Mercalius
Epic. All day, really. Hell of a crowd, pre-game - the bar we were at 3 hours before the puck dropped was awesome. Yellow jerseys everywhere, the game itself was a nail-biter, and man-oh-man, I have a headache (but a good one) from all the noise, especially during the 3rd period. We finally pushed through the glass ceiling that was Detroit. Well done, Predators. Oh, and thanks again to FG for inviting me and my friend to have a scotch with him and his wife in the Patron Club. Hope you guys had a great night and a safe trip home. Really glad to meet you.
NoD
Detroit just looked outmatched in this series. I haven't ever been able to say that before about them. I think they've got a few lean years ahead of them. Being the first team to advance should give the Preds some extra rest time.
ctm
Very exciting game and atmosphere. Can someone explain the history/significance of the catfish?
tinman
Detroit has the history of the octopuss... There were tons of wings fans in nashville before the preds. SO durign the 2002 game with the the wings the fans thru a catfish on the ice, mocking the octo in detroit... It stuck.. Now it is a nashville tradition.. That is the short of it... We went down to Robert's Western World for a celebratory beer or two afterwards but didn't stay long. Preds fans were everywhere. It was a tight game but our forechecking was good and Pekka was solid and that's usually the recipe for a W. Hope you all made it back home in good shape too. Onward and upward! freakingeek
Very exciting game and atmosphere. Can someone explain the history/significance of the catfish? ctm, sorry we didn't get a chance to get together. We got to Nashville late and we ended up having just enough time to grab dinner at the arena at the Patron Club and got to our seats just in time to see the national anthem/puck drop. Hope we get another chance at another game. How did you like the seats? As far as the catfish, the Redwings long time tradition was throw octopus (octopi plural?) on the ice during the Stanley Cup. The eight tentacles represented the 8 games they had to win to win the cup. (That was before the NHL expansion) When Nashville first played Detroit in the playoffs, someone threw a catfish on the ice as a Tennessee response to the octopus and it started the Preds tradition. Those were some hefty catfish that were hittin the ice last night. Great atmosphere! Now on to round 2.
Titanjuicy
#1 seed Vancouver......gone. Nothing but good news for the Preds.
tinman
Some one else gets the kings.. ST. Louis hopefully.. We match up better with St. Louis than the kings..
Mercalius
Some one else gets the kings.. ST. Louis hopefully.. We match up better with St. Louis than the kings.. Blues/Kings is locked in. We'll play the winner of the Coyotes/Hawks. Much better for the Preds, as we match up favorably to both Chicago and Phoenix, and the Blues and Kings will likely beat the piss out of each other in a long series. This actually looks pretty good for our chances getting into the WCF.

Guest
I generally root for the Preds because they're such a small market and i have mad respect for Trotz. of course you root for these teams right to the point to where they actually win the cup and then I sit back and go, "well how does that place deserve a f'n cup? Its religion here and we're going on 45 years. More proof there is no God." But in the meantime I root for the Preds. There are 2 things that bother me about this run though. - Being able to add Radulov like that that after the trade deadline for nothing is bullshit. There should be a total roster freeze after the trade deadline in acquiring talent. The Red Wings complained the most loudly about it at the time and. ironically, Radulov had a big role to play in the outcome. I'm sure the NHL will close this loophole down this off season. Damn I forgot the second thing but it'll come to me.
Guest
Oh Yeah...wtf is Tootoo doing not in the lineup???!!! This is his time of year and his brand of hockey....most teams would give their left nut to have him out there on their 4th line. Man Trotz is great but i just don't get that. freakingeek
I think it was unfair that ARad was able to skate in late too, but the league's stance was it wasn't the Preds fault that he deflected and they shouldn't be punished in order for him to be able to fufill his contract. Truthfully though, I don't think it made that much difference in the rest of the series with Detroit. Except for the last game, he hasn't really done that much. AS far as the Kings are concerned, I guarantee you NOBODY wants them. Quick has been outstanding and they have a badass D. The Blues were 1-3 against them this year. They won 3 road games to knock out the Canucks. It worked out well for the Preds though. The Kings will have to beat #1 and #2 to get any further.
