Thank goodness he's not here, it would have been a disaster. It was a terrible plan from the start and Manning was obviously looking to play for more than 2-3 years.

Let me get this straight? He signed something like a 5 year $90 million contract BEFORE his injury, has a serious neck injury and after you hope he has recovered you sign him to an even BIGGER one? Awesome plan Denver.

I'd assume there are clauses in there to protect them against re-injury and I'd assume there's not as much guaranteed.

but yeah, that's still a hell of a lot.

I'm over it. I really like Locker and I'm glad the Titans wanted to keep him either way.

I like the deal for Denver, I mean they won a playoff game with Tim Tebow?! Would it have been unrealistic for them to make it to the SB with a healthy Payton Manning? As for the money, there supposedly covered against his injury (which I've heard/read isn't something that is reoccuring when it is fully healed).

As for us, we just aren't in the position Denver is. If our defense was in place to make a SB run then I think pursing Manning would be logical. But not just because our owner fears he is dieing soon.

From what I've heard and read (not sure how accurate it is) the neck injury isn't supposed to be problematic once its healed fully. Meaning your not more prone to injure it again than before the surgeries.

what made me a little more nervous toward the end was reading that he wasn't fully back yet... just close.

I Agree, Im glad for Denver, but relieved its not our problem to worry about.

Watching Locker last year he has the look and feel of everything you'd want your QB to be. And I think it would have been a major setback to have him sit more than another year behind someone, regardless if its a healthy (past his prime) Manning or not.

Any word on guaranteed money yet? Thats what matters. There's no way they pay him that much over 5 years.

PFT just posted an article. They find it odd the guaranteed money isn't mentioned and that it may even be a 1 year "prove it" deal.

I agree in part but I don't think it would've hurt Locker at all to sit behind Manning for a year or more. Personally I think he should play but I don't think sitting for another year or 2 would hurt him either.

Pretty sure he beats out Hass though.

In essence it sounds like the Broncos can cut him after year 1 with no real hit if Manning isn't physically able to play because of his neck.

I wonder what would happen if Manning were to, say, tear an ACL or break his fibula.

“@adbrandt: Manning contract:

2012: 18M

2013-2014: 40M w/waiver on neck

2015: 19M

2016: 19M

trying to find out more on waiver”

Note that the 40M in years 2013-2014 become guaranteed after a passed physical in 2013 and no waiver. That's a big chunk of change.
