You also use hindsight pretty frequently, then act like you don’t. Hmmm, oh was I mistaken... are Taylor and Levin still Titans... or even in the league? Hindsight? Where? If you are talking about Leonard, all I ever said is that if we were dead-set on drafting a LB.... HAD WE STAYED PUT INTO OF TRADING UP someone like Darius Leonard was definitely on the board STILL and who knows about Evans. Yes, there were rumors of the Steelers as I recall. I can't prove the value of staying put without providing realistic scenarios about how it could have turned out better than it did. On second thought, I might be able to prove it with math because in general more picks are better than fewer picks. As Tez pointed out, we had to have three 2nd round picks to get Derick Henry!!!! That's not the ideal but it is proof positive that more picks are more likely to garner better results.

rns90
For the last time, you're going under the assumption that Leonard would have flourished in our system. He and Evans are different players and have different skill sets. You can't automatically say that well I would have stayed put and taken Leonard and assumed he would have picked up our system and performed flawlessly. We picked Evans because he fit OUR SYSTEM better than Leonard.

StephenIsLegend
It’s just comical that Mr. Stick-And-Pick seems to think he could do a better job than J-Rob. Also, you’ve used hindsight as an argument tool in the past. That just doesn’t work. And the fact you have Tez agreeing with you isn’t a ringing endorsement. Where did I ever say that I could do a better job than J-Rob? It's a question of philosophy-- which is just part of performance. I've just requested that he keep more of his picks BECAUSE: 1) gambles don't always pay off, 2) gambles in this fashion are expensive, 3) this habit of reaching affects the quality of the composition of the roster. Two of his four trade-ups have not panned out so he can do no better than bat .500. That's not good enough for the price. Yes, I've used hindsight to illustrate what would have been a possible better outcome. There's no way out of that. Those possibilities were nothing more than recognizing possible better outcomes. Go Tez! I'm pretty much in favor of anything you and your ilk don't like...

So if we are going to use paper profiles JRob made a good choice. He also had a big game against Bama. Sometimes, for various reasons picks just don't work out of fit what our coaching staff is looking for. Taylor had a fantastic 3-cone and good speed to go with it. He became expendable when we signed Humphries and drafted Brown and Jennings led the league in kick returns. Now the fact you happen to know who Leonard is, since I brought him up for you, is there any other educational material you want me to provide you? So bottomline we paid a price to acquire a guy that is that easily replaced? That's why trading up is all too often Fool's Gold. For "various reasons picks just don't work out" is exactly why volume drafting is the better strategy. The comment that I didn't know who Leonard was was my way of saying that I never pounded the table for Leonard at anytime.... which is the revision that you keep promoting. Apparently @Tez wanted Leonard. Good for him for he was absolutely right about Leonard it would appear. I was simply pointing out that if we were really jonesing for a linebacker, we could have stayed put and grabbed Leonard rather than pay a price to trade up. So Diggs is a good comparison for Taywan? Yeah, Diggs was drafted in the 6th round!!!!!!!!!! We moved up a few spots in the 3rd Round and gave up a 4th for a 6th to draft a 6th around talent it would seem. Different regime, but 2015 was the year we MOVED UP IN THE DRAFT in the 3rd Round to nab Dorial Green-Beckham. It's the principle as much as the actors (Webster vs. J-Rob). J-Rob is doing many things right, but a few castoff premium selections for an at-best 50% success rate in trading up and a few serious misfires.... yeah, it could have been better. Of all those starters you cited, only two were significant trade-ups: Evans and Landry. The others are gone, gone, gone. Do you agree with Soxcat that the Conklin trade "worked out"? charleytolar
2 minutes ago, Soxcat said: Nothing to show? Idiot, Conklin played for the team and was good enough to sign a nice FA contract. I guess if JRob picks a shittier player he might still be around because we could keep him at the vet minimum? I'm not saying your strategy to not trade down and keep picks isn't that bad. But your defending of it is has been full retard. And his trade success rate has been more like 75%. Teams lose player in free agency. That is part of the NFL. The Titans lost Kearse. Was he a bad pick as well. You have gone and stayed at full retard now for too long. For the upcoming season, we have ZERO to show for the picks we surrendered to reach for Conklin. The 50% rate cited refers to the four trade-ups in the J-Rob era: Conklin, Taywan, Evans, and Landry. Three of the four were contributors. Two of them (Conklin and Taylor) leave NO MARK on our roster at what should be the beginning of the peak of their performing years-- young vets.-- 50%. The other two of the four (Evans and Landry) are still in the game. Let's hope the two of them prove the value of their four draft slots. Much like Conklin, I seem to recall that we let Kearse go on to a too-rich payday in Phill where he fizzled as I recall. Oh, and we didn't trade up for Kearse... OUCH! Well, we got got a good rt for a few years. We got the 3rd round pick back. Was he worth a 1st and a 2nd vs him and a 6th (i think)? Sure considering what we had without him. Him not being a ten year starter on the team is fine as long as the plan works out. There is nothing to say that the picks we did not make would have amoubted to anything. If a gm lands starters and contributors with half of the picks they make, trade up, trade down, or no trade then they are killing it. Your expectations are just out of line with reality. Again, I am fine with your personal opinion about trading up, but acting like jrob is sinking the ship by doing so is nonsense. If we had traded up and every player was no longer here and we had nothing to show for it then fine. But that is not the case here.

Taylor Decker was still on the board. He seems like a pretty reasonable long term solution. He grades out about the middle of the pack I would guess. Better than Kelly?! Where did I ever say J-Rob was sinking the ship? I've said repeatedly that he is a better than average judge of talent so KEEP YOUR PICKS. Last year's draft was the bomb... and we acquired Tannehill for a lonely 4th round pick. It's not about expectations. We "skipped out on" five premium 2nd or 3rd round picks in his tenure. Would any of those have lengthened the list? That is all I am saying. I can't have expectations out of something that was cancelled. Except for perhaps Tom Brady, you can almost certainly find a better player taken later in the draft by someone.

Free agents leave teams. It is part of the NFL. And the better the player the harder it is to retain them. On top of that Henry and Tannehill had career years so they became priorities. Conklin was drafted in 2016. Full retard. That train left over a year ago! It's not about him leaving as much as it is about not wanting him.... over a year ago. What is your point about pointing out that Conklin was drafted in 2016?

The only reason they didn't use the 5th year option on him was because of his injury. Past that there is no guarantee any player is going to be on the team past their rookie contract. And like I said, the better the harder it is to keep them. Does anything not sink in? He signed a $14 mil a year contract for 5 years with the Browns. He is not a shit player. It just worked out we had Tannehill and Henry to deal with in the same year so they decided with Kelly and a potential draft pick for a RT they would move on. You are either the most dense human being or playing a joke on all of us. I wish it was a joke actually. I feel sorry for you. By the way the Browns are orgasmic they got him. Oh my. You are a master of useless information. The Browns drafted an OT early after signing Conklin. They should be orgasmic because their Tackle situation was apparently in the shitter. He's certainly an okay player. It's just a shame that he cost us three draft picks that have no impact on this year's roster.
