scine09
How can you blame Kittle? He can only catch what’s thrown to him. There were at least two instances that he was wide open and Garoppolo went elsewhere and it didn’t work.

Do agree Jimmy G ineptitude played a big part.

Stopped committing to the run. How do you give Mostert only 12 carries. I also don't get his insistence on starting Coleman over him when Mostert has outplayed him majority of the season. Should've tried giving the ball to Samuel more as well. He was killing them. Shanahan tried to win with Jimmy G. That was the critical error. After the Chiefs cut it to 3, SF gets a 5 yard run on 1st down, then two incomplete passes. Guys I blame most: 1.Shanahan (think he's a good HC and a great playcaller, but he's blown 2 SB. That has to be a blackmark on him) 2.Jimmy G (played poorly. some limitations in his game) 3.Kittle (4 catches for 36 yards 0 TD for a guy who is supposed to be elite. Big time players are supposed to make big plays in big games. Kittle's arguably the best player on the team and was pretty much a no show.) Jimmy's fault. BudsOilers
In fairness, a couple of his batted balls by Jones were passes to Kittle, one of them specifically being the play where Suggs was covering him man to man....

I agree, but when you’re the best player on the team you expect more than 4 catches 36 yards 0 TD in the biggest game of your career. When I say I blame Kittle it’s about 1 pct of the blame. 99 pct of the blame is on Shanahan and Jimmy G. Its not always the QB fault if he sucks but he gets blamed anyway because he’s the QB. Kittle is their best player so I expect more. I know it’s not all his fault but it is what it is. Henry didn't have a good game against KC. Was it all his fault? No, but when you're the best player it comes with the territory. You have to take some responsibility for it.
BudsOilers
Of course, the explosive Kittle play they did hit came back due to the OPI (which was the correct call).

I guess Kittle could have tried harder to get open, but it’s 100% on Jimmy G if he can’t hit those throws.

I just think if you’re a great player at some point you will make a play even if the circumstances aren’t great. Great players find ways to make a big play in a big game. Maybe blame is the wrong word, but Kittle didn’t come up with that one big play which is disappointing when he’s their best player. Is it all his fault? No but the results are what they are. But if JG isn’t getting the ball to him, he can’t make a play.

It wasn’t all his fault either, but it needed to be more.
