Why is Kuharsky pissing on Vrabel over Succup?

Eli is a two time SB winning QB. It was pretty obvious Mariota was playing out his last year. The fan interest was low anyway, visiting fans were filling the stadium with Mariota starting.

The team knew Tannehill was better just like they know they need a new kicker

You yourself have noted just how devoted to Mariota a lot of our fans were despite him doing little to earn it. Regardless of the differences in success, the situations would've been similar had Tannehill flamed out like Eli's replacement did. And honestly, the way things played it seems to me that if they thought Tannehill was better than Mariota, it was only by a marginal amount. If they knew he'd be this good he would've been declared the starter the day we acquired him.

They certainly knew it a week into training camp. Mariota was a complete joke in preseason and camp, Tannehill was great in preseason. He didn't have to be "this good". He was way better than Mariota, period.

You're protecting what you knew onto them. If they thought the same as you a different decision would've been made, period.

You don't think they knew RT was better than MM? Seriously? Of course they did.

There is no way they watched RT in the QB room, in the huddle and in practice and didn't know it. It's literally impossible.

Vrabel even said they wanted to see MM with Lewan for two games. Why? That's the most ridiculous reasoning I've ever heard.

Also they benched MM in the 3rd preseason game early and kept the reins on Tannehill on purpose. They were protecting MM from stinking it up and being outdone.

The whole thing is weird.

People are forgetting we got Tannehill off the scrap heap. No one wanted him. His stock was very low. He was a Tier 4 QB to the NFL per Sando.

We got him for a 2020 4th (basically valued as a 5th round pick in 2019) and Miami basically paid us to take him since they're paying most of his contract.

Yeah, maybe once they got in camp they thought he did well, but still you will trust his pretty terrible performance the past 2 seasons over him looking good in shorts in July.

In retrospect RT would have been the right decision but the team was committed to seeing out their investment in Mariota for part of the season (too long, another mistake) and I'm sure it was tough but no one expected Tannehill to be this much better than Mariota given Tannehill's career trajectory.

Lots of people predicted he would take over.

Hell the coaching staff was leaking to the media they wanted to start RT

Vrabel wears his emotions on his sleeve way to much. I understand you're frustrated, but you must lead by example. You wouldnt want the players to start answering questions like that. As a German general Erwin Rommel once said "Dont raise your voice harshly to your men because it only shows your own short comings"

The media will eat him alive when times are bad. You can't be this condescending to the media

Find me someone who predicted Mariota would be a bottom 5 QB and Tannehill a top 5 QB.

The gap didn't have to be this big to start the better QB.

The offense has been God awful under MM for years now.

You could see in preseason there was a huge gap.

It's indefensible

I'm sorry if a bunch of no nothing idiots didn't want to believe how bad MM was, the team knew.

They played a horrible QB for six games when it was obvious that the new guy was way better and went 2-4 scoring 16 PPG.  They ignored the kicker being on the PUP during preseason and signed a scrub who cost them at least one game and probably two, forced Succop back at less than 100% and he's been worse.  They may miss the playoffs because of their poor decisions in these two areas.

Mariota ruined the season.  2-4 is too deep a hole to dig out of for most any team.  This board is full of Titans fans and there were still people here adamantly supporting him this season.  Titans Report posters gave a steady stream of reasons why Mariota was playing good all last year, 2018 and some of 2019.  They posted analytics that showed him to be equal to Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady.  Three weeks ago a woman said to me "they need to put Mariota back in there."

Musiccitymiracles.com wrote football expert opinion articles all last season supporting Mariota's play.  He has this look that people want from a QB.  He has no opinion.  He hasn't even called Vrabel out for taking one of the most cherished jobs in sports away from him.  You sit Arod, Tom, Watson or Wilson and you are going to hear something.  Fans think that shows character, Marcus has the balls of a piss ant.  National media never tried to explain shit to Titans fans to educate them to the fact he was horrible.  PK's site had articles supporting Mariota during this time as well, now he flapping his mouth.

So, JRob and no other GM can sit a QB with that kind of backing.  The majority of Titans fans wanted to see him succeed.  They were behind him.  JRob and Vrabel's hands were tied by fans and the owner to keep playing him until Marcus made these people give up on him.  Vrabel is not a football fool.  He knows what bad QB play looks like.  JRob isn't a football fool either.  Vrabel is the one who has the team making plays all over the field.  Offense, defense and special teams are all functioning at a high level.

I agree with what you said before the part I quoted.  The kicking situation is awful, but they have tried to correct it.  Justin Tucker is not sitting on the couch looking for a job.  They are going to get a kicker, but it just didn't work out this season.  But I just can't play like these guys don't know what they are doing because I see vast improvement.

Why do you quote me if you don't respond to what I said?

BTW, if this is your bar for switching QBs then MM would still be starting ,Finding someone who thought RT would be a top 5 QB.

JFC.  Winning teams don’t pander to fans (mist of whom are idiots) and it ain’t like the stadium was filled up with Titans fans when PT was starting.

The same film that TR and Herndon tried to use to defend PT ACTUALLY showed how fucking bad he was.  Tannehill was better the day he showed up.  It’s inexplicable that the Titans had to be proven without a shadow of doubt that Mariota sucks.  I expect way way more from the football people and if fan sentiment and money are determining factors in the actions they take or don’t take, they will never win anything if consequence.  They supposedly come from the Belichick tree but he’d never do what they did.

I do like Robinson and Vrabel but they sabotaged the season with not playing Tannehill from day one and fucking up the kicker spot.
