People of any color. Like that case in Phoenix a while back. Cops had drunk dude crying crawling on the floor obviously very distressed the dude made one mistake and the cops lit him up in front of his gf. He was white. Cops still got away with it. That’s not ok because white people kill white people everyday the cops lit him up because he was acting a fool and flashing what appeared to be guns out of his window. then when they're all hopped up on adrenaline he reaches for his pants and they think he's going for his gun. it'd be difficult to prove to an entire jury that they murdered him. I'm sorry if that reality disturbs you. maybe they could have got the cop for recklessness or manslaughter its debatable. but that is the point its debatable. jury's don't always act in ways you'd expect and there were probably a few on there that simply couldn't be moved off the idea that the officer had a legitimate fear that he was reaching for a weapon. that is how precious life is and why the breaking down of these decisions as only along racial lines is overly simplistic and downright irresponsible. pat
Most murders are perpetrated by people who know each other, it's a meaningless statistic used to say "not my problem" Same folks get triggered when it's pointed out that these mass shooters all seem to be white boys. They aren't interested in fixing anything.

Lol are you fucking kidding me. There’s about a million different ways the cops could have reacted to this situation that didn’t end up killing a sobbing drunk mess in a hotel hallway in front of his girl

No doubt that’s what should happen. Once they are face down hands on head feet crossed, they should be approached searched and cuffed. The end. You act a fool and people come in on a hair trigger. Obviously the jury agreed. So in fact everything I said there is true. Let me get this straight you think the cop murdered him? Or you think there was no justification when he opened fire? Beyond a reasonable doubt? No doubt that he reasonably feared for his life or the life of his fellow officers when a man that was reported to be flashing a weapon outside his window reached against orders for his pants? Again you’d have a hard time proving that to a whole jury and that has been proven time after time. you mentioned cops being held to a higher standard. I’m interested by what you mean by that... should we assume their guilt? Allow the state to punish them for crimes a jury could not find? Should they not receive the benefits we all get? Don’t be silly if cops get any benefit of the doubt it’s an acknowledgement that their role in society brings them more often into situations that no one else ventures in to. Comparing the typical fact patterns for a case involving cops and a run of the mill defendant is like comparing apples and oranges. I’m thinking the real problem here is you’re willing to believe from the beginning the cop either wanted or did not care if the man died. Other people in society are not willing to come in to the situation with that same mindset. It cuts both ways sometimes terrible things happen and we don’t have adequate answers

This kid was obviously a mess. Terrified fearing for his life. This cop sucked and he should not get a pass cuz the kid pulled up his baggy ass pants
IsntLifeFunny
If you’re arguing from a point of is it beyond reasonable doubt he feared for his life then you’re being foolish. Yes, he can’t be convicted in this case, as most cops aren’t, because they hide behind that shield in these instances. Anyone with two brain cells can see that situation was a mess and the cop wasn’t justified. He’s in a hotel for one, which means he has no idea where those bullets are flying. The guy is cowering and obviously outnumbered. He’s crying. Why didn’t the second cop shoot? Maybe they should have taken out the girlfriend as well, just for precaution seeing as she was every bit the threat he was.

Maybe they should have taken out the girlfriend as well, just for precaution seeing as she was every bit the threat he was. I am being foolish to argue from the legal standard? Interesting... well it looks like some people did have a reasonable doubt. its why the cop is walking free today. the shield remark is pathetic. We had audio and video... statements from all parties involved I believe. Nothing hidden. Bottom line is a jury of peers could not agree that the standard was reached. What you are angry about is that they disagree. If that is injustice then the whole system and every result is unjust not just the ones that you disagree with. I cant help you with that. second paragraph is more jibberish separate items to be considered that have nothing to do with the fact that the man was flashing a gun and then reached for his pants against orders. no cop can discharge his weapon under any circumstances in a hotel? What law book did you read that in? Supreme court opinion? No cops could discharge their weapon when the perp is outnumbered? Really? so if a perp pointed a gun at three cops can they not fire back until two go down? interesting point. No cop can discharge if a perp is crying? I hope perps don't hear that legal ruling. All they'd have to do is act emotional and then pick people off one by one. if another cop acts in a different manner than the cop involved is guilty? reasonability doesn't state that all people at all times will act the same and if they don't then the act was illegal/improper. More silliness. unless they kill all the people on the scene then the action is unjustified? an even larger amount of nonsense. these points were doubtless all brought up and considered. the jury didn't agree because the bottom line is the guy was flashing a piece and then he reached against orders for his pants. at that point the justification is there and reasonable doubt creeps in.
