Cossel is one step away from being called a old fool.

I don't understand your point here?

I happen to like what Cossel does and think he does as good a job interpreting what's going on with an offense as a non coach who is not involved in the game plan can do. Even in the statements in this thread Cossel goes out of his way to say he doesn't know certain things. He admits his limits to what he can know

So is your stance that because it’s taken longer for the WRs to come online that Mularkey is running a heavily schemed offense now but once they start playing like he wants, he’ll open up the offense more giving Mariota more to do?

And Mariota is on record lobbying for more uptempo. Will Mularkey change his ‘go up tempo once and if it doesn’t score we ditch it’ mindset? Or is he concerned that the defense is shaky enough to not want to make them play more snaps?

Taken WRs longer to come on line? You mean because the 5th pick of the draft has missed almost all of the season?

The plan was to play more 3 WR sets based on the off season and the coaches comments. Obviously injuries to the WRs and Mariota has changed some of the game plans. If you don't agree with this you're hopeless

LOL @ terms like "heavily schemed offense"

Once everyone is healthy they'll have more offensive sets available to attack opposing defenses in multiple ways, obviously.

Cossel has no idea how well Mariota can execute more, neither do fans. Only the coaches know that. Suggesting the coaches are limiting is total speculation.

Well if that is true, then suggesting the coaches are not limiting is also total speculation.

You literally could have just said the last part and answered the question.

I’m of the mindset that we’ve been running what we’ve been running because of unforeseen limitations to what they have maybe wanted to run. I give Mularkey a slight pass for that.

However, with Davis in the lineup now, if the offense doesn’t adjust over the coming  weeks, then I’ll really start to question Mularkey’s ability.

Don’t just laugh at me. Laugh at Cossel also...

Watched some of the Seattle game again and that offense was running on all cylinders even without Davis contributing.  Not a bad defense we were doing that against either.  Murray looked much faster and explosive.  The defense was all over Wilson on the pass rush.

That and the Jacksonville game sit well with my thinking that Robiskie is really good at calling plays when we have a lead, not so much when things get off track. As much as I’ve dogged the staff, we can’t tell how it will all shape up until Davis is fully intergrated into the offense.
