reo
Actually Reo, we have seen their running game rack up 967 yards over the past 6 weeks without AJ in the lineup. I'd say we've seen they can be effective with their passing attack severely diminished. Missing a top WR even AJ is a lot different than missing a top QB though. Their season will depend heavily on how Leinart plays.
oldschool
Once again, it comes down to whether you think Schaub is a top QB or not. I think he's average with inflated stats. I know its crazy but for some reason I expect Lienart to be servicable during the regular season.
CMJ
AFC West San Diego I didn't take the time to include Oakland but they could take the west or a wildcard depending on how that division does down the stretch. Oakland is taking the West. San Diego will probably get a WC. Likely over Cincy in your scenario.
JLocker10
Oakland is taking the West. San Diego will probably get a WC. Likely over Cincy in your scenario. I live on the West Coast and have watched every SD game I think they miss the playoffs for the second straight year They're not that good this season and not as talented as they were in the past Rivers is having a down season (13 TD 15 INT) SD is 4-5 and they still have to play CHI, DET, BAL, BUF, and OAK I think they're 9-7 at best They play OAK at OAK week 17 OAK absolutely dominated SD in their own house and have now beaten them three straight times I like OAK to win the division too
reo
Once again, it comes down to whether you think Schaub is a top QB or not. I think he's average with inflated stats. I know its crazy but for some reason I expect Lienart to be servicable during the regular season. I'm torn on Schaub. I've never really thought of him as a great QB but I have trouble seeing a season ending injury to your starting QB not having an effect. I do agree Leinart could surprise though. I'm not as down on him as most are. I'm just looking at their schedule and thinking Jax, Atlanta and Cincy should be able to stop the run which will put more pressure on their defense and on their passing game. But I'll also readily admit that they've done a lot better than I thought they would w/o AJ... granted it was against us, Jax, Cleveland and Tampa. I think they'll definitely lose 2 more games (1 being to us just b/c we'd need it either way) w/ a slight possibility they lose another. I don't think they'll just fall off a cliff though... I could see a scenario where they panic and the bottom just drops out but I think it's unlikely. I think the hardest part of us making the playoffs is taking care of our own business. scine09
To me the worst possible QB you could have is an immoble lefty with little arm strength who has shown that he is not 100% dedicated to his craft. Matt Leinart fits that category. As far as the Raiders, they seem to have a habit of losing home games that they should win. They just lost at home to the Chiefs and Broncos. I think that division will come down to week 17 and SD takes it. I think the Raiders will go 3-4 down the stretch to finish at 8-8 while the Chargers finish at 6-1 to finish at 10-6. freakingeek
Here's an interesting stat. Houston leads the NFL in 34 minutes of TOP (almost 2 mintues more than Pittsburgh who is #2) If you don't think a QB change from Schaub to Leinart will skew that stat you're wrong. Schaub has an accurate arm and that has alot to do with retaining possession. Houston is going to have to lean VERY heavy on the running game and the defense. Granted it's been their strong points but they have been very good at keeping other teams offense off the field. That is getting ready to change. How much is anybody's guess. If the defense doesn't hold, they'll have a hard time playing catch up. BTW, Carolina was 8th in the league in TOP and you see what happened to their offense Sunday. We won the TOP by 5 minutes. TitansGuru
For some reason the site keeps deleting all the schedules and predictions. Let me try one more time. The site uses a rich text editor which can sometimes screw up copy paste jobs if that's what you were doing. You could always either "Paste as Word" or "Paste as Plain Text" instead. Those are the last two on the top reply bar.

No I actually was just typing all the separate schedule information in and when I posted it, it not only deleted half of it but it jumbled the rest up, like it had tried to delete some and combine some of the info. I even tried it twice before I decided to make it a separate post. I was typing the schedules on a single line instead of a column. It posted the column just fine. First time I've had anything like that happeen.
CMJ
There's also the fact that the Texans have the most potent rushing attack in the league, and their defense ranks #1 in yards allowed, and #2 in scoring. If there's a team in the NFL that's built to win behind a backup QB, it's the Texans. Texans will still win the division, but Matt Leinart will be exposed in the playoffs. Nevermind the defense and running game. It won't be enough to get them over the top. Ask the Jets.
ZEPPELIN
If Leinert struggles, they will have a hard time winning games. If he plays reasonably well, they will continue to win. Their defense and running game have looked quite good and can make up for a dropoff in QB play to some extent. As far as the Titans, it is maddening to see one team show up one week and another team show up the next. It is anybody's guess how we will do angainst the Falcons and Bucs. If we somehow get on a roll and Houston loses a few games, we could possibly win the division. But, it will take a lot more consistentcy and a bit of luck. Even if we do somehow make the playoffs, we just don't appear to have the players to compete with the best teams in the league right now. Britt's injury was season-ending in more ways than one. scine09
I disagree with Zeppelin on the Titans having little shot if they do get into the playoffs because the AFC is so weak this year that any of the 6 teams who get in will have a legit shot at going to the Super Bowl. In fact I think that after Green Bay the league is so weak that the other 11 playoff teams will be pretty much even. Do I think the Titans would go to the Super Bowl if they got in? No. However, if the Titans do get in, we'll assume it's as a wild card, they'd open up either at Houston or at the AFC West winner. They can certainly win that game. Then it's onto Baltimore, Pittsburgh, or New England. While those teams I think are the 3 best in the AFC they are not unbeatable and, in fact, the Titans destroyed Baltimore when they played. If the Titans go into the playoffs at 10-6 they will be going in having won 6 of their last 8, red hot, and probably playing very well.
bizzyeddie
titans are closer to the playoffs, leinhart ain't a big dude and one good hit and they are down to #3...who is that anyway??

There's nothing better than the Titans' winning a game they're supposed to win. But that happening with an unexpected injury to boot is just true comedy.
