He was actually drafted two years prior to when he joined the Spurs. He had obligations with the Navy he had to fulfill first. Robinson definitely carried that team to every success they had in the 90s. I wish he could have played with Duncan in his prime. The Twin Towers may have won 3 or 4 championships in a row. So Duncan never missed the playoffs, with the exception of the meniscus tear at the end of the 99-00 season. He personally didn't play, but he got his team into the playoffs ao it should be included with an asterisk. The Spurs, with/because of Duncan, never missed the playoffs. And Duncan has 16 years straight of playing in the post-season. I can't think of any other superstar in the league who ever did that in NBA history. Maybe someone from the 60s/70s? It sucks Robinson got injured in 96-97, but it was a huge blessing in disguise. Robinson is an all time great center Robinson was very good but I don't consider him one of the all time greats. He's not a top 10 big man of all time. He's not a top 10 big man of all time. I don't think you'll find a list that doesn't have Robinson in at least the top 10. He's too accomplished not to be top 10. Scoring leader, MVP, defensive player of the year first team all pro many times. But I don't think top 10 is all that impressive and I wouldn't put him in the top 5. Everyone knows how great Jordan was, but should we really consider Robinson to be among the truly elite centers in NBA history? Oiler FANatic Posted August 14, 2016 Report Share Posted August 14, 2016 I think comparing Robinson to Pippen is perfectly valid. The Spurs didn't win a championship before they had Tim Duncan. People who say that Jordan never won a championship without Pippen (giving Scottie all the credit) are idiots, I agree. Of course he needed some help to win 6 championships. No one can win that many all by themselves, not even Jordan. Shaq had Kobe's help (and Wade's in Miami), Jordan had Pippen, and Duncan had Robinson plus many others later on.
