AussieTitanFan08
so who is hot and who is cold less than a week out from the draft. Risers Leonard Floyd is red hot, read today that the Jags have taken Myles Jack off their board and could take Floyd at number 5, that would certainly be a bit of a reach by the Jags but his unique acceleration/bend compared to the rest of the upper prospects in the draft has been what is driving his stock up. Jack Conklin is definitely rising, seems the media has finally started taking notice to what the scouts already knew, he is one of the few OT's that blunted the majority of the draftable opponents he faced while in college. Josh Doctson ever since the combine it has been a steady climb to the point reports are that he is now considered the top receiver in the class by a majority of teams, don't know why but quite a few analysts think he could be our target should we stay at 15. Ryan Kelly was considered a likely early 2nd round prospect for the majority of the draft process but many now believe he has interviewed so well with teams that he could go as high as 18 to the Colts. Derrick Henry isn't a name that has been mentioned for a while especially since we traded for Murray and the Cowboys who were considered a likely destination with pick 34 went out and added to their RB depth, heard over the last couple of days the Seahawks were seriously considering taking him at 26 as a replacement for Marshawn Lynch. Fallers Myles Jack is a bundle of mystery at the moment, quite a few are reporting there are multiple teams in the top 10 who have taken him off their board due to his knee injury, a guy who was considered a lock to go top 6 a few weeks ago could easily fall out of the top 10 as reported by Schefter. A'Shawn Robinson is another one with medical concerns, when he was part of that dominant Bama National Champions Defense he was considered a likely top 15 draft pick but as the process has dragged on there are concerns about a serious ankle injury that is dropping his stock. Laremy Tunsil was a better than even money bet to be the number 1 pick two weeks ago but the Titans trade seems to have put big question marks over his destination in the draft, is it all media speculation or are teams genuinely concerned about his availability due to his inability to play out a complete season in College. Laquon Treadwell seems to have fallen off his perch as the number 1 receiver, seems to be based around question marks over his speed, its another case of wait and see if its overblown media coverage or actual concerns from franchises. VH3 seemed a likely top 10 pick, if what Schefter reported a couple of days ago about teams having concerns over his character he could be one of those that falls on draft day. I'm sure there are plenty more I haven't touched on, would love to hear others thoughts on who is rising/falling especially around the late first/early 2nd where we pick at
SirLanceALot
I'd put Shaq Lawson on the falling list. Daniel Jeremiah had him as a top 15 pick not too long ago. In his latest mock, he's got him falling to 30 to Carolina. Robert Nkemdiche, Darian Thompson have both fallen as well. As far as risers, Le'Raven Clark, Hunter Henry, Artie Burns and TJ Green all have seemed to gain momentum.

Lawson is an interesting one such a wide range between different analysts, seen a couple say number 4 to Dallas and then as you say 30 to the Panthers, I really think he is a possibility for us at 15. SirLanceALot
If Leonard Floyd had Lawson's body frame, Floyd would be a shoe-in top 5 pick IMO.

You want a Center in the 2nd round after acquiring Jones in FA? With good NTs and FS/SS/CBs LBers still on the board? Why? Surely you don't think we need a C more than a NT or a FS or an OLB,... We only have three 2nds.

Strategically, the Titans would be better served to pick an olineman and dlineman with their first two picks. I say that because of the run on olineman. Now i believe that dlineman are far deeper.. What all this means,is that you are going to have 3rd rd lineman, getting drafted in the second. On the other hand, skill positions are going to be an excellent value in day two of the draft... D-Line is deep, but NT not so much. And I happen to believe NT is what we need most on the D-Line.
Face
I said 2 weeks ago Leonard Floyd would be a guy Id really want at 15. I LOVE Floyd. Love him. He's what every team that runs a creative 3-4 wants these days. For one thing he's the only edge rusher in this draft with truly elite physical traits, his workout was awesome. He ran a 4.6 flat with a 39.5 inch vert, that's insane. Most of the top edge rushers have big verts, it shows they have an explosive 1st step. He also has incredible length, though LeBeU has always preferred the shorter, squattier OLB's. Most importantly he's very versatile. While his sack %'s weren't overly impressive you need to remer he often played as a regular, 4-3 OLBer. Obviously the pass rush is paramount but he can do it all, his length & speed is huge in pass coverage & I believe he was a solid run player. If we draft him I think his role as a rookie will be ILB in the sub packages, taking Avery's place. Hmhes was excellent blitzing in college, so I see DLB sending him relentlessly. His eventual role will be SOLB.
Face
The more I think about Floyd the more excited I get. Besides how talented & explosive he is, he's also the ultimate chess piece, you can line him up all over & he provides much needed depth, he can play all 4 LBer spots. As much as I love Conklin, Floyd's leapfrogged him IMO. I've heard a bunch that his optimal role is similar to how the Pats use Jaime Collins, though I think he'll rush off the edge more. And since I also predict Matt Patricia to be our next HC, we may see him fill that role.

The titans are almost assured of getting a NT @ #33 if that is what they want. Billings, Butler and Kenny Clark are all true NTs. Probably two of them will be available at the top of the 2nd. As a side note, JRob was quoted as saying that it all begins up front on both sides of the ball. So OT/NT is a distinct possibility. Probably depends on how they assess the chance that one of them will still be there at #43.

A close assessment of team needs between 33 and 43 would probably give some clues to their strategy. As I said in another post, 4 teams in that range need a safety. But I haven't looked at NT needs. IMO, the four weakest starters on the team are Bell at RT, Woods at NT, Johnson at FS and McCain in the nickle CB role. So I'm hoping they find a way to replace them early. Bobo
@Face I hope the Titans aren't as high on Floyd as you, I see major bust potential. His first step is great and occasionally shows a quick inside move, but I didn't see much more than that. He looks too easy to counter. He plays weak, and does not have the type of frame to fix that. I would not play him inside, he was not impressive there. And Floyd does not have incredible length either. The most important part of "length" is the arms, Floyd's 33" arms are average. I like the idea of pass rusher at 15, but Lawson would be the guy.
