JRob says he won't overpay in FA, and I think remaining longevity plays into that.  So older guys like Weddle and Reggie Nelson probably won't be in the mix unless they can be had for cheap. (HA!)

I'm thinking A guy like McCleod or Gipson or Iloka or Rashad Johnson at safety, and Amukamara at CB, and maybe Jerrell Freeman at ILB, due to his coverage skills.  The depth at Safety in FA is one of the main reasons I don't see us drafting Ramsey.

On the O-Line, Schwartz or Smith at OT, and maybe Wisniewski at C as opposed to Mack.

I'm really hoping they pursue/land Martin at RB despite the cost, in part because I don't think there's anyone close that can be drafted this year without reaching for Zeke at #1.  But the fact that Martin's contract will probably amount to being overpaid gives me doubts.

We all want the Osemele and Harrison and Sean Smith/Eric Berry or Trevathan type of picks, but they are the definition of guys that are likely to be overpaid when the dust settles.

Osemele is probably going to get close to LT money and knowing that some around here think you can just pluck good lineman off of trees, I question if you'll be happy potentially paying a guard that much money.

I know Weddle is up there in years but I get the feeling Robinson would like to add some veteran experience, toughness, and smarts. Weddle offers all that while playing a position of huge need.

That said, he recently just said he wants to play for a contender, so unless he's really disappointed in the offers he gets from the better teams, it ain't happening. I can see him landing with the Giants.

We'll see.  I think I'd still rather have McCleod, Iloka or Johnson.  Gipson too if Townsend/Lebeau can teach him to play up to his size.  I think from a value standpoint, those are the guys.

On Monday, Weddle will have a chance to start talking to other teams about finding a more rewarding place to spend the 2016 season and beyond. In a chat with Peter King of TheMMQB.com, Weddle said that he feels like he has several more years left in him because he’s never been hurt before last season and that he’d like to spend those years competing for Super Bowls.

“I’ve got 3-5 years left in me,” Weddle said. “I want to go somewhere I have a chance to win a Super Bowl. Until last year, I’ve never been injured. I’ve never had surgery. I don’t drink, I don’t go out. My shoulders, back, legs, hip, they’re all fine. I think I bring a lot to a team.”

The way I see it, we have 5 major holes on this roster (and a bunch of minor places that need upgrades) - RT, Safety, WR, RB, C. We can probably realistically fill 2 of them in the draft.

I'd like to see us chase guys at each one:  RT -Schwartz, S - Gipson,  WR - Jones? Kearse, no idea here, RB - Martin depending on the price tag, C - Mack. Signing a few of those will give us flexibility on draft day.

As for predictions - I think they'll get an OL, I could definately see them shooting for Martin, and a WR.

Robinson said he thinks he can get a starter with the team's first three picks.

Maybe.

Got to get a little lucky with that 3rd rounder though - there weren't many legit day 1 starters picked in the 3rd round last year - Tyler Lockett and a bunch of guys who contributed, but I couldn't find a starter.

wouldn't be devastated if we ended up with Bilal Powell would be a good safety blanket for Mariota catching the ball out of the backfield

couple of other rumours doing the rounds

Jags favourites for Malik Jackson and the Bears for Danny Trevathan

I couldn't believe how good Powell looked at the end of last year, he was so quick. The NYJ are keeping him, letting Ivory walk.

Tell you who Id love to get but it won't happen is JPP. The Giants are apparently offering a 1 year prove it because of his hand, which is a mistake IMO. The guy was a force last year, comes back midseason with no practice or camp & a club on his hand & had something like 30 pressures in 7 games.  The downside is his run defense, which has always been great, isn't the same with the hand, he can't grab, though he apparently has a devise to help with that.

But either way, the bottom line is he's a special kind of athlete, 6'6 280 with an insane wing span, and he developed his technique over the years. He's flat out destructive & if teams are scared off & he doesn't get a huge, multi year offer, we should go all out.

Even if he only plays on 3rd down, no other FA can make the kind of impact he would.

I don't think JPP had as good of a season as you remember. I saw him around the ball constantly but not once did I see him making a truly impactful play. It makes no sense why they didn't line him up on the opposite side since his inside hand was his fucked up one. Every single time he got a pressure he just slid right off since he couldn't grab anything.

Si.com has a throwaway article where it ranks the top 100 free agents and the best places for them.

It has the Titans with RT Kelvin Beachum,  RB Lamar Miller, WR Jermaine Kearse, S Tashaun Gipson, NT Steve McClendon.

That would be pretty significant and would fill 3 pretty big holes.

Do Dah Link to kill some time:
