Giovanni Bernard

At the risk of wearing out my welcome on my first day--what say you about trading for Giovanni Bernard??

Hear me out, the guy is second fiddle right now in Cinci and you know he can't be happy about it or want to continue on this path.  My buddy is a Cinci fan, so I've watched a decent amount of footage on the guy.  He's sick!  Real fast, can catch out of the backfield and blaze!  He's good on the ground--has good vision and home run threat every time.

This guy would instantly make Mariota better.  Teams would have to respect the run and we could use him like Roth and Le'Veon are used.  Takes a ton of pressure off Mariota and opens up so much more field.  Imagine screens with the guy!

What if the Titans offered a second round pick and one of our RB's for him?  I was really hoping the Titans would do something like this last season and before the deadline this season.  I know we're past the trade deadline, but something to pursue when it can be initiated?

I think this team wants and needs a Jeremy Hill type of runner. Someone to pound the rock. Bishop Sankey is essentially a poor man's Bernard.

If Andrews or Cobb doesn't work out we're going to draft running back high in the vein of Ezekiel Elliot etc ..

I see what you're saying big--while an efficient big downhill runner is nice to have, the skill set of the Le'Veons and Bernards lead to better synergy with Mariota type qb.

FWIW, i think the Bengals are not making a wise decision.  Bernard is the better back, but somehow, they continue to give more touches to Hill--who has fumbling issues as well.

Le'Veon does it all and he's a bigger back. The reason the Bengals use two is they covet Bernard's pass catching skills but like Hill's ability to consistently gain 5-yard chunks. The problem with Bernard is he would sometimes struggle with 1-2 yard gains.

I like Bernard, but it's very unlikely he gets traded and truthfully the Titans should minimize investment in the position until we have a serviceable offensive line. Besides, given Hill's sophomore slump and recent tendency to fumble, Cinncy has no reason to ship him out.

Cinci is stacked right now--they just might bite--they could use other positions and a 2nd rounder might be tempting to them.  Gio seems like a good guy to me but how long is he gonna be patient as a back up, when he is the superior RB?
