Would you feel better if the Titans signed Dan Marino out of retirement since he's a proven great QB?

Ya...cuz that makes so much sense...and is soooo relevant to this discussion...

Its ok guys. I know me being 199% right is a tough pill for yall to swallow. Better get used to it though

It actually makes a ton of sense in the discussion. You are downgrading the Titans QB position because they have a rookie playing versus a veteran, albeit a terrible one, in Josh McCown. So clearly you prefer guys with experience, regardless of how bad they are, than a rookie. Marino has a ton of experience and not only that he was great. But if you want a guy still in his prime the Titans might as well sign Rusty Smith. He is more proven at the NFL level than Marcus Mariota. Or they can just go with Charlie Whitehurst.

McCown's big year for the Bears was an outlier anyway and Manziel was absolutely awful last year on and off the field.  I'm not sure how anyone thinks they are better than Mariota at this point.

Im not downgrading...im just not gonna say mariota makes up for  4 less at least probowl type talents already without ever practicing in pads.

Did I say that he does?

He gives the Titans more hope than the Browns have. Do you not agree with that statement?

oooh so you changing the question from who has more overall talent to whos better mariota or manziel? i see. trying everything you can to be right huh.

but the original question we argue is not who makes the playoffs not blah blah blah its if you line up our 53 man roster next to theirs postion by position and had to choose one guy out of each head to head battle, (qb vs qb hb1 vs hb1 rt1 vs rt1 rt2 vs rt2 etc...) you really think youd take more titans than browns?

just to make you feel good sure mariota might have a lil more potential than manziel. but its still unproven at this point so why does it make sense to say were better off with a qb who has never even been in nfl pads yet...like i said because of that i didnt downgrade but im not gonna upgrade it beyond reason either.

and theres still a chance both qbs bust just as much chance as mariota succeeds...which is why im not putting weight into the qb position. but i know you just trying to do everything you can to make me look wrong, or you want likes from all your buddies....cmon just go the easy route like the rest of em and knock em for me likeing jack a whole 2 weeks longer or so than most people...cuz this is a battle you are definitely on the losing side of buddy.

My whole argument is that if Mariota is good then the Titans are in better shape than Cleveland. And as of today they're in better shape because of the potential than the Browns, which you can't seem to grasp.

You clearly feel better about a team that has talent on the roster with a terrible player at the most important position on the team than a team with a rookie QB who has a lot of upside and younger talent throughout the roster. That's fine but the Browns have no shot at doing anything of significance now or until they get a QB. The Titans may or may not have found their QB but, unlike with Cleveland, there is hope.

What is so hard about this concept to understand?

theres that if word again. not dealing with ifs or assumptions. if manziel turns into steve young then they are waaaaaaay better off. IF mariota IS ONLY A TAD BIT BETTER THAN MANZIEL THEY ARE BETTER OFF. shit i read an article with guys talking up manziel...they have hope to..i think hell suck but hey i been wrong before...we could play the if game all day long buddy boy.

and since i know im the lonewolf here ill just go ahead and say it

He's going with the "proven vet" argument which is a guaranteed loser.  Whenever I see teams go with this reasoning I absolutely hate it (sidenote: this is probably because I've seen the Pirates and Titans use this alot) since it's weak and really does nothing but waste time.  I don't think it matters that much--NFL experience in this case--if the gulf between player talent and ability is so enormous.

If you just want to look at this team in general, how did the decisions of starting DeRon Jenkins (vs Dainon Sidney) and Eddie Robinson (over Keith Bulluck) work out?  There are probably a lot more examples over the years but these are the two that came to mind.

Im going with the "a qb who hasn't had a Real practice doesn't make us better than a team who tripled our win total had 3 more pro bowlers not including Gordon and beat us last year" argument actually.y

I think its a pretty solid one.

We've already gone through why we think your theory is full of shit.

Not theory...yall sayin mariotas a lock to be better than manziel is a theory...my facts of them tripling our wins and having more pro bowlers last year than we had the last two combined..maybe three..is all cold hard fact.
