Pragidealist
My bad.. ESPN2... wtf? who cares? ESPN2 is not an international special channel or fringe channel. http://www.foxsports.com/soccer/schedule?competition=5 Here is the fox sports schedule. So now if ESPN2 doesn't' count, I am guessing Fox sports doesn't' count either now. And if they get a deal with ABC, abc wont' count. I get it... you don't want any to count. Your metric will keep changing as soccer gets more exposure. Cool.. doesn't really mean much to me. This is YOUR metric.. EPL is also on NBC sports.. but I'm sure that doesn't count either. lol
reo
"all game will be televised by ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and watchESPN, unless otherwise noted." My point exactly. Yeah ESPN2 and some on ESPN.

And the International channels are just funny more than anything else. Hey, why in the World Cup could ESPN not have an AMERICAN announcer broadcasting the games? Why did they need someone from another country? And why was the damn coach German?
Pragidealist
I really enjoyed that btw. As a very novice watcher, getting into the strategy is something I'm looking to do. You're very welcome. I love this stuff. Zonal marking always a good read but they really only do the major European teams. http://www.mlssoccer.com/ At the bottom of the page is Armchair analyst and building the pyramid sections that are always really cool to read too. They'll break down US soccer games and MLS games. fun stuff

scine09
That Houston-NY match on UniMas must have been a thriller. If I knew Spanish I'd have watched.
Pragidealist
That Houston-NY match on UniMas must have been a thriller. If I knew Spanish I'd have watched. Yes we know, Spanish fans aren't people in the US. I remember. I would say that is not a big draw a game. NY had a legendary player retire last year and were supposed to be pretty bad this year. Houston is a small market team that is a fringe playoff team... so I think their lack of national exposure probably makes sense. I have no desire to watch that game, myself. I'm willing to bet (and I havent looked so I could be wrong) that none of Seattle's games will be spanish speaking only.

When he retired I was torn. Half of me was disappointed but I felt good for him that he got to go out and enjoy his post "Futbol" career. Tonight I am trying to decide if I'd rather watch the Stanley Cup or replay of yesterday's 0-0 thriller between Colorado and Real Salt Lake on UniVision. Those two teams are 9th and 10th in the western coference out of 10 teams. And that game still had an attendance of 18k. One of those teams has only won 2 games all year and the other only 4. Yeah... its a sucky game that no one wanted on TV. This is who retired https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxVjd7lcUp0 You don't get much better. Even aging, he was fun to watch in the MLS. I could watch the replay of the other seatsquirmer on ESPN Deportes, FC Dallas against San Jose, another 0-0 edge of your seat tilt. Between the two games yesterday there were as many goals scored as I've scored in my pro soccer career.

I was looking for games and settled on the Germany - Ivory Coast game... 10-0... it sucked too. Just not many good games yesterday. TFC game was pretty good. The US -Netherlands game was freaking fantastic! US won 4 to 3. If you want an idea of how that relates to NFL.. just multiple each score by 7. 28 21. US was behind by two goals around the 75th minute. They had only scored 1 goal against the netherlands in their history and came back and won.. after scoring 4 goals. It was awesome. It came down to the 80th minute goal. Just awesome fun.
Pragidealist
I've watched that US game three times by now at least. lol and I'm still having good strategy and tactics discussions about it over on BigSoccer forum.

It was great stuff. I watched and heard the terms uno dose trais quatro cinco sais or however you spell it. At one point I heard the term "gol" and "futbol." At another point I heard "Espanol." I am still in amazement at the drama that was on display for anyone to see. Particularly those who understand the Espanol.
