Legaltitan
jonboy thanks that clears it up. So we think there are non red-flagged guy(s) left with first round talent.
Cyrus
You guys are very clearly missing that those players may not or are not at positions of need which he alluded to. The Titans wanted Mariota. They felt quarterback was a position of need. Why are we still discussing this?
MamlngEnvy
Were they really focusing on his memory to sell him asa franchise qb??

The Titans wanted Mariota. They felt quarterback was a position of need. Why are we still discussing this? I couldn't care less about that part of the interview. I'm more concerned with the fact he made it sound like any of the 3 QBs were options and that in the end they decided to "lean" toward Mariota. Even if thats remotely true you don't say that in public.
CMJ
I feel like Mariota was more Whisenhunt's guy than anything else and Whisenhunt made this decision. You keep posting this. Why would Whiz want Mariota? In the chat you said ego.

I got the sense that back in March the Titans were discussing multiple possibilities with what to do. Mettenberger was in the discussion at that point. After the draft process played out they became convinced Mariota was their guy.

MamlngEnvy
They've mentioned it more than once. For once I'd like the selling points of our qbotf to be "he has supreme arm talent, accuracy (in tight windows) deciphers defenses with ease" Not "well he'd athletic, works hard, and good graciousness he can remember things!! He also helps old ladies criss the road every chance he gets!!"
scine09
You keep posting this. Why would Whiz want Mariota? In the chat you said ego. Ego. He wants to prove to everyone that says he is inflexible and has a system that he can get someone who isn't the traditional QB who he's associated with and make him great. I'm sure he also thinks that Mariota can succeed with him. I doubt he'd take someone that has no chance. That would be career suicide.
scine09
Did he or did he not say they would have been happy with Winston or Mariota? The way he said it is that they liked both QB's. He didn't flat out say that they'd have been happy with either one but it was obvious what he meant.
Cyrus
Did he or did he not say they would have been happy with Winston or Mariota? I don't remember hearing that. I actually got the sense that they were wanting Tampa to take Winston because they wanted Mariota.

Titans279
Is saying they wanted Winston more than Mariota somehow cathartic for the people upset they like Mariota more than Mett or something?
