oldschool
is this clown for real? So they liked both Winston and Mariota as well as Mettenberger? if I'm Mariota I don't exactly feel all that great about those comments. What a train wreck.
scine09
How can you say he had no idea who would be available at 19? That's ridiculous. Everyone has a general idea of who will (and won't) be there. If he had 16 guys graded in the top 16 how is he supposed to know if any will be available at 19? I really don't think the Titans had any intentions of trading the pick to be honest with you. They wanted Mariota regardless and there was no price that would have done it. abenjami
Just about every time this guy opens his mouth it gets dumber and dumber. Now it appears that article calling him the worst GM may have been too kind.
volntitan
It's clear that most teams had "impact" grades only on the top half of the first round.

They clearly liked the two QB's picked last night over Mettenberger.

rns90
Get ready for another underwhelming 2nd rounder tonight guys.
oldschool
They clearly liked the two QB's picked last night over Mettenberger. Thats fine. The message today should be that Mariota was always their guy and they couldn't be happier.

It sounded to me like they were in love with his memory as much as anything. I feel like Mariota was more Whisenhunt's guy than anything else and Whisenhunt made this decision. Obviously you don't know with 100% certainty someone will be there at 19 if you think there are only 16 players with first round grades. However, a historical analysis would prove the vast majority of the time, at least one of those guys will be there. Now it appears that not only were there multiple guys still available at 19, they are still available at 33.

I don't think there was even a price.
oldschool
Say want you want about Fisher but he would never be caught sounding like this to the media. Hell we all know he fucked up and drafted Chris Henry in round 2 that one year and what was his response? We love Henry and thought about taking him in the 1st. Thats how you do it. Whisenhunt wouldn't make these comments. Webster yes I don't think Webster's all that bright.
Cyrus
Like Sankey last year? Was a rookie - I'd like to see how he plays this year with Mariota. They'll add a running back as well.
CMJ
They didn't want to trade down to say #12 and #19 because there wouldn't be any players with first round grades left, but there are still some available today at #33? That makes no sense. Does this idiot know you can trade for picks next year too? They didn't love Mariota but just "leaned" towards drafting him at #2 and that was enough to not trade the pick? LOL Glad I'm not alone in seeing that too. The guy is an absolute joke.
