IowaOiler
No but when Walker went down, so did our passing game. Hunter has been called out for his lack of toughness by the coaching staff and fans. Washington has disappeared for games at a time his entire career. I watched Mett to see if he was going through his progressions and he was. Nobody was open and the Ravens secondary was all backups or rookies or guys they just signed this week. Strange. If our receivers couldn't get open against a secondary of back-ups, they must have really struggled against teams playing their starters. Far too early to make definitive judgments on Mett, but considering how long he held the ball, I would hope he made it through some progressions. Oh, and @Soxcat...thanks again for the wonderful contribution. Your intellect and football knowledge continue to impress.

Positive Vibration10
He's a damn statue.... He didn't come through yesterday period. I just don't like his inability to not get sacked he can't hold on to the ball that long either and the third and one play was Locker like..... He should have made some plays when we needed him to and so far he makes plays that don't impact us winning the game
StephenIsLegend
What's funny is that @Soxcat 's worst post beats @IowaOiler 's best post any day. I wonder if Locker shows up on Warner's top 5 this week?
Mythos27
Has this only been a problem for the past two games? In retrospect yes. This has been an issue since Jake was the starter and definitely didn't help him any. The receivers got the benefit of the doubt early on for 3 reasons: 1. The receivers were thought to be a strength of our team. 2. Jake had many people who doubted his ability as a QB. 3. Many times the receivers did get open and Jake completely missed them. If Jake was hitting those guys the times they were able to get open, it would have highlighted that he wasn't the main issue. If he had stayed in the pocket long enough to even be coverage sacked, it would have further highlighted their inability to get open. In short, Jake's own short-comings served to hide the receiving corps deficiencies. As a more traditional pocket passer Mett is highlighting those issue, not on purpose mind you. Then again he could just be sucking out there. This is a game I'll be really interested to see the all-22. The commentators out-right said that guys weren't getting open but if the all-22 reveals open receiver streaking down-field then it's on Mett. Either way I think Mett could have thrown the ball away on at least 2 of the 5 sacks yesterday. I still don't know what he was thinking when he stepped up into the pocket and right into Levitre who was getting slightly pushed back. Bad decision there. Positive Vibration10
Why can't people admit when Mett doesn't look good? Especially when the game has counted the most??
pat
The RBs let Mett down. Can't fumble on the road at the 1.

How else can you explain the Titans looking like a playoff team in the first quarter and then disappearing for 3 quarters? The Ravens stepped up their pass rush but Mett still had time in the pocket. No one was open against a depleted secondary.
freakingeek
Why can't people admit when Mett doesn't look good? Especially when the game has counted the most?? Mett threw a few bad passes but the running game stalled and he had no one to throw to in the second half. The sacks hurt and he's going to have to learn to feel the pressure and throw it away but this loss can't be pinned on a rookie QB unless you're trying to support an agenda. Bruinbills
This thread is the reason why both the Vols and the Titans suck right now. The people of Tennessee cant judge talent. Sack Mettenberger cant make a read to save his life. This isnt LSU playing the Citadel where Odell Beckham is going to be 20 yards open. This is the NFL which stands for Not For Long when you cant complete a short throw on 3rd and 1. Heres the plan....trade for Foles and draft Hundley. Problem solved. Mythos27
Why can't people admit when Mett doesn't look good? Especially when the game has counted the most?? People are criticizing aspects of Mett's play you're just overlooking it because what you want to hear is that it's all his fault and there can be no other explanations. Anything short of that is people "not admitting" stuff.

WG53
I have noticed a common theme between those that do not like Mettenberger. They fall into one of two groups: 1. They are Locker fans bitter that Locker lost his job. 2. They're people that favor the running QB because they are "playmakers." Most likely these people were huge Chris Johnson fans and want the Titans to take a running back somewhere early in the upcoming draft. After, of course, drafting either Marcus Mariota or Brett Hundley in the first. Wrong yet again.
Positive Vibration10
You need to be able to escape the pocket to throw the ball away this dude is plastered in cement in the pocket and thinks he's badass enough to will the ball through the defense with magical arm talent...... The stuck in sand pocket presence is not fixable I can't say I don't want him to play awesome though I am a die hard Tennessee Titans Fanatic and I did drool over the arm strength but I can't see his frame holding up without some sort of punishing hit blowing out his knees while he's stuck in the mud trying to makes plays with his arm
