#Titans QB Jake Locker is 4th in the AFC in passer rating (119.9) in preseason, in between Tom Brady (123.8) and Peyton Manning (110.1)

Has looked best of all rookie QBs. RT @jwyattsports: #Titans QB @mettshow leads all NFL QBs in passing yards during the preseason with 504.

@PaulKuharskyNFL: Yes. Has made more difficult throws, but both rookies have been very good.

I think the best career move for Locker is to let Mett take over the starting spot.

The protection is going to get the starter killed. Greene makes CJ look like a blocking back. McCluster has actually looked the best in protection. But with the confusion back there and Locker's total lack of awareness, no way he makes it to week 4.

Locker would have no problem handing it over. Nines is right, the guy shows no fire.

Yeah I would not be surprised if he does not play in 2015, and walks away from the game.

The protection last night was terrible. Green and Levitre have really stood out. I'm not smart enough to know where the blame lies overall, but I do know there's no excuse for it given all we've invested in the line and protecting the qb.

Levitre is getting manhandled. He looks awful. The Bills knew he had long term injury issues, which is why they didn't sign him. I don't know if it's related to his play, but it has been another idiot signing.

Supposedly, Whiz's protection schemes are way more complicated. I think it's obvious on both sides of the ball that guys aren't confident in what their jobs are during plays. A lot of hesitation. New schemes take time, and I'm not sure we have the talent to win many games during the transition.

Same here. After all Locker has already said money means nothing to him and he has saved nearly all his money. I could definitely see him saying he doesn't want to be injured anymore and retires.

Whiz: Mettenberger will play a lot Thurs. Whether he starts or not I don't know. Left possibility open. #Titans

Whiz: Unless there is an injury situation, Mettenberger is No. 3 on opening day. Charlie remains the 2. #Titans

I liked a lot of stuff out of Locker yesterday. I couldn't care less about the stat line for these guys. The first quarter I was about done with him, especially on the 3rd down where he stared down Wright and telegraphed the play (which wasn't even for a first down distance) and the safety came from 10+ yards away to deck Wright. Awful play.

But then he settled in and started to look better. He made a number of good throws. I liked the other crazy catch by Nate on the sideline -- he was 1-on-1 and Locker gave him an opportunity. Jake also showed another dart throwing across his body while rolling to the left -- normally one of the hardest throws for a QB. On the Nate TD, I care less about the throw since it was an easy 1-on-1, wide-open, no safety situation -- what I did like, was that he stepped up into the pocket and delivered the ball with bodies all around. Some other accurate throws like the missed on to Wright on the sideline and the early drop by Hunter (great placement). He moved a little better, not great, but I saw flashes.

I still see the issues that make me wonder about his overall upside. He still throws balls behind WRs (especially on crossing routes). He still freaks out when there's a blitzer, though I will forgive him this game because the protection was so awful. At some point you have to trust that the RB who is in position to make a block won't whiff. I'd like to see better control on the touch of his passes, too many are hard to catch rifles. He also missed a few other throws because he waited until he saw the WR open before releasing when he should have pulled the trigger a sec earlier (Missed TD to Nate in the endzone).

As mentioned before, throws to the outside where his read is open? Jake looks like he can be a QB. Think about most of his better throws -- on the outside, or obvious 1-on-1, throwing to his first read. I still don't see him working the middle of the field, and when he does go there I see more hesitation and inaccuracy. And too many times, Jake quickly took the underneath short route on 3rd downs where his receiver has no chance to make a first. Sure, it is a completion, but it's also a turnover on downs. That's why the stats mean zip to me.

He definitely looks improved to me, but I also thought he looked terrible in a number of games last year when people were praising his stat line.
