And then we chose to keep VY over signing Brees. LOL

There is just no way Bud wasn't going to draft VY no matter what. Then there was no way he was getting rid of him any sooner than 2011

Isn't it crazy a guy who basically started the league was still that fucking dumb 40 years later?

What's funny is Bud thought he was sticking it to Houston by taking VY. They had the #1 pick and could have had him.

This one is def true

Hey, at least he tried. One thing I'll give Floyd is he always understood that you needed playmakers, the guy wasn't gonna use a 1st rounder on a Guard.

I think saying the Titans should have signed Brees is hindsight bias. Many teams were concerned about Brees' shoulder (torn labrum, rotator cuff). In fact, I vaguely recall him wanting to play for the Dolphins instead of the Saints, he failed the Dolphins physical and they picked Culpepper.

The Saints took a chance and it worked out for them. But many other teams besides the Titans passed on Brees. Especially after he failed the physical.

According to many in the Houston media, the owner of the Texans loved David Carr. So when Kubiak interviewed, the owner asked him if Carr had what it takes to become an NFL QB. Kubiak said yes.

So, there was no way they were going to take a QB. Especially after the new HC said he had a potential franchise QB. So Mario was the logical pick. Bud was bidding against himself.

Vintage Kubiak, it worked out because Mario was a beast, but Kubiak was an empty suit if there ever was one, no wonder why that team never won. Great X's & O's without a shred of backbone or leadership. No wonder the guy had a stroke when he was about to get fired.

After a year with Carr, Kubiak realized he needed a QB and traded for Schaub. I always thought a Kubiak offense would be a good fit for Young. Rollouts, playaction, strong running game, no audibling, TE friendly, the center makes the line calls and you feed the HOF WR.

I read an article about Kubiak's offense that was really good, it basically said he only needs a good athletic OL, a WR, and TE. He doesn't use spread formations much, he relys on the outside zone runs & pounds them & then he'll roll the QB the other way & he'll have all day to throw. Said he does a better job than anybody & getting his #1 WR looks downfield. I actually think this would have fit VY or Locker.

It's probably also why he did well under Dinger, whose from that same school of offense as Kubiak & Shanny. He had his own approach, didn't use the zone runs as much, spread it out more, and was more WR based, but a lot of it was similar.

Dinger was a GREAT OC, in fact if he didn't get sick I would have loved for him to have taken over as HC in '11, he would've been 1000x better than Munch.
