Jamalisms
Which should be a more sure way to score? A cross or him taking Beasely 1 v1? To an extent, that depends on how Beasley plays him.
Jamalisms
Eight outcomes and a four goal spread between them. Glad CTF's on the case to narrow it down! Here's one: Someone will win or it's gonna be a tie.

I'm glad i was able to give you a new perspective on things vs. the "If portugal doesnt dramatically change" it;s going to be like watching the Titans vs. the Patriots kinda vibe you were giving off. Pragidealist
I think the US has to go into this match thinking that they want and need 3 points. They need to have that aggression--albeit controlled aggression--if they want to get anything from this match. Approach Germany as lambs to the slaughter--or, at least, avoiding the worst of it---will see the US eviscerated. Germany haven't even started to click...which, let's face it, we all know is gonna happen. I'll be more impressed by a tactically/technically sound draw (goals or otherwise) than I will by a swashbuckling win for the ages. Not that I wouldn't enjoy it in the moment, mind... I have not doubt that they will. I was listening to a podcast this morning and they had on a member of the German media. They made a good point. This is very personal for Klinsi. He has a lot to prove. You know this was a match that he circled on his calendar the moment the groups were announced. I fully expect him to roll the dice and go at them. The US has more to prove than the Germans. The Germans lose that game and Lowe may be out. The US lose and its par the course. Then you look at tactics. Lahm has been suspect in the middle of the park. They will use Bradley to pressure Lahm. I bet they go diamond midfield for that purpose. People have been thinking that Bradley has been a 10 when they play that system but he really hasn't. He's been a forward positioned destroyer and facilitator. Then the weakest point on the German's is their left back. He's a rather slow CB that's playing LB. They will go at him with Johnson and Zusi similar to how they went at Portugal. I think this could be a very good match. The physical state of the US is what I am concerned about. They are playing with a good deal more rest and more travel than Germany. But the game is at noon in that Brazil heat. That is not something that favors the Germans. I am Uber excited. Looking forward to it!
Jamalisms
Klinsman will absolutely be looking to (re)establish himself in the eyes and minds of his country... and maybe even himself against his country. He'd be foolish to have that factor in too heavily to tactics, however. Enough to not play it safe and I'll be happy. I don't think we can defense for 90-100 minutes playing it safe. Ghana did well to try and exploit that defense. Hopefully we can do similarly and hopefully they haven't patched together a response.
Jamalisms
England going to lose again or redeem a bit and show their quality like Spain? I'd think they're motivated and ready to play... but Costa Rica is no push over. The CONCACAF has shown well.

I also don't think how they played against Ghana is how they wish to play. I think they do have more of an attacking mindset. I think Ghana was an overreaction by the players to that early goal. Then Ghana are hard to possess against as even the Germans saw. As Marsch has said on some of the podcasts, they are one of (if not the) most athletic teams in the tournament. I fully expect them to start a little cautious as they started with Portugal (hopefully without conceding that early goal) and then go at the Germans. I hope the US rep for quality will increase after this World Cup. After watching them play at high quality opponents the last four years with Klinsimann- I think the US can play with anyone. They don't have those individual brilliant players yet. The neymars, Messi's, or even the Orzil and Mullers- but as a group they are very talented team. They don't have those glaring weaknesses as they usually do when coaches sought athleticism over technical players. They are dangerous.
reo
Yeah, I expect them to go after the Germans as well. He tried to down play expectations from the start... Granted after we beat Ghana and got so close w/ Portugal, expectations are at an all time high... but I still think his main objective this year is to go out and play well over end results. He's still looking at the development of this team over W/L. Not just an overreaction to the early goal but probably also a bit of an overreaction to losing Altidore.

Jamalisms
Suarez needs a long ban, BTW. Life is fine with me but double digit international games at least and he shouldn't step on the pitch for the rest of the tourney. So, so stupid.
Jamalisms
Third time, man... and that's just the documented ones... and this one was in a must win game with a man advantage. It was terribly stupid.

wiscotitansfan
What a fucking joke. Italy is my team behind USA and I am beyond irate because if they called a stoppage of play AT LEAST the ball would have been cleared and that corner that resulted in a goal would have never happened. FIFA needs to review the tape and suspend him at the minimum.
