wiscotitansfan
I think we can hold our own against em but not for 90 minutes though so.... no, probably not. I just haven't seen a full game of good soccer from us. Even if they are playing well and we play our best, I think we can "easily" play with them. Jamalisms
The cynic could easily say we got completely outclassed and fortunate against Ghana, tied one of the most disappointing teams in Portugal when they were missing about five starters... the most depressing tie you'll ever see, btw... and then got completely outclassed against Germany - that it was only the group of death in name because everything outside our control fell our way. That would ignore Altidore and the travel and Manaus... but it's not entirely inaccurate. Belgium, meanwhile, just won a game playing with only 10 players. You could spin this game however you want. We shouldn't have high expectations but the only thing that matters is winning. Anything can happen in single games. Low expectations, high hopes. Either way - better than England! IsntLifeFunny
Still waiting on your analysis of the first four games. I'll even give you the benefit of doubt that you've watched those as well. I wasn't the one saying what team A needs to do to beat team B, only to see it not happen and go entirely against what I said. Try again.
IsntLifeFunny
I haven't looked at stats whatsoever but in terms of quality chances, Portugal had too many over the course of the whole game to say they got a few lucky breaks. I was more interested in that game too compared to probably everyone in the bar I was at since I knew that was more important in terms of a realistic chance at us advancing (I sat front row center at the bar in between both TVs and probably legitimately had my eyes on Portugal 40% of the game) Own goal and two easy misses by Ghana. They were definitely lucky with the outcome. They had several easy chances, as well, that they didn't convert, but without the own goal it comes down to a tie versus two pretty evenly matched teams. CharrdWood
Allow me to take some of the sting out of this... The US has *a* chance. Of course they do, that's why the matches are played. Belgium have far more talent than does the US, but perhaps not quite the same solidarity of mentality and effort. It's a reasonable question. Are you a cawp? Try again. In other words, dodge. Did Ghana play significantly better than Portugal in the first two games for each team? Yes or no? Did you watch all the games or is whatever answer you give entirely bullshit like your comments on the Portugal v Ghana game you didn't watch? Do you actually know quality soccer or is that not true, which would explain why you focus on scoring so much?
IsntLifeFunny
Pretty sure that was tongue in cheek, Opus. But she is crazy as hell, so I could be wrong.

Amazing she can be so obviously trolling, (even more than normal, which is hard to do), and that headline is everywhere as if it's meaningful. People just play right into her hands. IsntLifeFunny
So let's see: I make a prediction that team A has to play much better to win against team B. I am called out for it because it isn't the truth, especially when it comes to the sport being discussed. The game happens, and it goes exactly the opposite of what I predicted. I then decide that my prediction (qualitative analysis) was spot on even though I was totally wrong. I win.
Jamalisms
So you're saying that Portugal didn't play better in the game you didn't watch yesterday, as compared to the other two games you didn't watch? I stand corrected.

Here's more detail.... http://news.yahoo.com/ann-coulter-world-cup-column-182845703.html Either way we can agree that she is the definition of "batshit crazy." I stand corrected. I didn't say they didn't play better. I said before the game that they matched up well with them, and that they weren't going to have to drastically change their play to stay with Ghana. I was right.
