Having poor odds doesn't mean he won't succeed... just makes it unlikely.

His odds of succeeding are not tied to which round he was drafted in. It's tied to him as a prospect and the environment he's coming into.

Correlation does not imply causation which is what you're missing. The odds of a 6th round pick making it are there regardless of why he was a 6th round pick. Doesn't mean the odds of him making it depend on the fact that he was a 6th rounder. The odds are low regardless.

You have a 50+ page thread already. Please don't derail every other one too.

Was i the one that started it?

Trolling hint:

Someone better go remind Lewan that Mettenberger is a 6th round pick.

Reading those comments about Mettenberger in practice, this is already starting to become clear:

I really truly think, unless injuries, Mettenberger will run away with the starting job. The writing is on the wall.  ANd imagine as they get further into a new playbook:  Locker (based on his development so far and having a weakness of not understanding complicated plays) will probably be struggling with the first few pages of the playbook, while Mettenberger (who excelled in one year with Cameron pro-style college offense)  is helping get other players up to speed on it.

Seriously, I really truly think, unless injuries, Mettenberger will run away with the starting job.

@IsntLifeFunny What was that you were saying about no one saying Mett was the future and that he'd win the starting job?

Hmmmm, I really like Mett and think he has better NFL traits than Locker. But it will be Locker helping Mettenberger with the play-book. He's had much more time to get up to speed on it. The issue is executing it.

The thing with Locker vs Mettenberger is Whisenhunt almost can't lose. Locker has pretty much been written off as a bust so if he goes w/Mettenberger week one everyone will say that the Titans (in the media's eyes, rightly so) are giving up on Locker and playing the promising rookie with the strong arm. And if he goes with Locker then it'll be about trying to give the once promising player one more chance and him trying to turn his career around or that Mettenberger just isn't ready.

Great position to be in IMO. And probably one of the main reasons he chose Tennessee over Detroit (freedom at the QB position).
