Put up or Shut up

Recommended Posts

This little discussion about our 6th round pick has gone from interesting to annoying.   There are several reasons why I seriously doubt he is the starter to begin the 2015 season - but debating it has gotten tired.

So who wants a bet?   I'll bet a year's ban from the site, signature ownership, -- name it.  I don't do cash bets, otherwise put it up there.

Who has as much confidence that he WILL become the Titan's starter in 2015 after Locker busts- either making a early draft pick next year necessary or beating him out.   I'm done debating it.

The TR circle jerk over Mettenberger is hysterical. He's 3rd string so unless both Locker and Whitehurst go down he's not seeing the field. When Locker flames out this year the team will address QB in the 2015 draft. Mettenberger is going to have to be incredible to get a shot at the starters job.

This is funny. You and your brother are the ones who drew a line in the sand arguing emphatically that Mettenberger has no chance to be anything but a backup this season even if Locker gets hurt and next year too because you both say that if Locker doesn't pan out we will draft a QB early in the next draft and Mett will still only be a backup at best because he was drafted in the 6th round. Where do you buy your crystal balls?

I don't think Metterberger will start however

If ever there was a situation where a 6th rounder had a chance to step on the field as a rookie starter this is it.

Locker is injured, the back-up is terrible and the new coach has absolutely no reason to force Locker into the starting job.

Don't take it personal, man. We disagree but that's cool. This post was directed at others who were being a lot more annoying about it.

We're good. I have no problem humbly disagreeing with you

Being that guy for a sec: Put up / shut up is not your style, Prag. I thought debating something beyond annoyance is what you & Reo seemingly live for, yes? Just another observation - i dont recall either of you being so adamant about the limitations of our last 6th round wonder, Rusty, even though he carried way less pedigree into the league.

It is even funnier to see old school arguing this. He argued with me for a good while back in thew winter over my statement that the Titans should and would draft an offensive tackle in the first round and then move him to left tackle when Roos was gone.

No I didn't you stupid fuck. Keep trying.

He has no real chance but Locker will have a good chance at being injured and Whiz probably won't force the issue with Whitehurst. If there is an injury I will take an avate bet that Mettenberger is our starter going forward (if he shows promise we wont go QB in rd 1)

Nobody has any idea how our QB situation will unfold. Too many possible scenarios with Locker's injury history and Whitehurst's lack of a successful track record. But, to rule out a guy who was very successful in the SEC and has the physical tools to be an NFL QB is something only the Scissor Sisters would argue over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

Zepp, I think Mettenberger has all the skills. The problem is whether he'll ever get the opportunity he needs to prove it. Step one is for him to take Whitehurst's job and that would surprise me. People forget Whitehurst could have stayed in San Diego for the same money. I doubt he traded in job security for a spot in Nashville. It stand to reason he was told he'd be the backup here too.

He's not the real backup, man. He knows his role is a career clipboard holder. He is not a starter in waiting backup QB!
