titanskick8851
Whelp the draft is creeping ever closer...and we are gaining a few more clues (or clever misdirects) as to how we may draft in the upcoming draft. So here is the Titanskick Draft 2.0 1st Round - Trade DOWN! Dallas Cowboys trade up sending their 1st Round Pick (16), 3rd Round (78), and 5th Round (158) Picks to us in return for the 11th Overall Pick. As mentioned in another thread, Dallas wants to make a splash and that means getting someone to help their struggling defense. They draft Aaron Donald at #11. 1st Round (16): Virginia Tech Cornerback Kyle Fuller - This was tough for me, but after trading down a few spots I think we can clearly take BPA and not worry too much about need. If you watch the tape of Fuller you will see a DB that is solid is so many areas. He has been a riser of late and is always around the ball. He is a physical CB and a playmaker that will help our defensive backfield. Alternate Picks: Auburn OLB Dee Ford, Louisville Safety Calvin Pryor 2nd Round (42): LSU Quarterback Zach Mettenberger - After studying a little tape on Mettenberger I believe he is very similar to Rivers, and I think Wiz is going to like this. I think the off-field troubles he had in the past are nothing to worry about. He has a strong arm and comes from a pro-offense. Mettenberger will push Locker this year, but will not quite take the starting job. Next year he will become the starter after Jake's option isn't picked up. Alternate Picks: Ohio State RB Carlos Hyde, Georgia Tech OLB Jeremiah Attaochu 3rd Round (78): Arkansas OLB/Pass Rusher Chris Smith - After drafting a CB and QB in the first two rounds, we finally grab a pass rusher. Smith was very productive player for the Razorbacks and figures to fit in as a pass-rushing specialist as a rookie. Alternate Picks: Penn State Wide Receiver Allen Robinson, Pitt Quarterback Tom Savage 4th Round (112): Towson RB Terrance West - Wiz talked about adding an all around RB and West fits the bill. He may have played a lower level, but he was a TD machine and is similar to Alfred Morris. West will add a different dimension to the backfield that we do not currently have. Alternate Picks: UCONN ILB Yawin Smallwood, West Virginia RB Charles Sims 5th Round (151): Rutgers Wide Receiver Brandon Coleman - The one kind of WR we don't really have is a physical outside WR (in the mold of Boldin, Jeffery). Coleman is a nice late round addition who has a ton of potential, but never lived up to it at Rutgers. Alternate Picks: Virginia Tech Safety Antone Exum 5th Round (158): Louisville Inside Linebacker Preston Brown - Brown fills the need of a Strong Side ILB and will add depth to our LB corps. Alternate Picks: Tennessee NT Daniel McCullers 6th Round (186): Arkansas State Nose Tackle Ryan Carrethers - The one last need we have on the defensive line is that of a true Nose Tackle. Carrethers can step into this role immediately and makes Hill expendable. Alternate Picks: Oklahoma Defensive Back Aaron Colvin 7th Round (228): Vanderbilt Offensive Lineman Wesley Johnson - Flyer pick with the local Johnson. He will compete as depth behind our starters. Alternate Picks: Tennessee State Tight End A.C. Leonard
reo
Corner over pass rusher? Hell no. I'm fine w/ the rest.
WG53
I would hate this draft. Mettenberger in 2? Really?
SuperFreak90
I think a trade down in the draft would be great, but I don't see anyone trading with us.

reo
I probably go Ford in that scenario. Then look for a CB in the 3rd round. I'd be fine w/ that
KnoxTitan
Not a fan of the 1st two picks. CB in the first is fine, but Fuller over Roby, Gilbert, or Dennard? You spend a 2nd on a project QB who won't play next year and might not ever play for you. When it comes to QBs - either go big (Manziel, Bridgewater, Bortles), or wait and catch a falling prospect in the 4th (Murray, Fales, etc). This draft is deep enough that we can fill a major hole in the 2nd with a guy who should be able to play major minutes next year. I actually like your alternate picks alot better - Ford, Hyde, Savage, etc.
KnoxTitan
Mettenberger in the 2nd is a perfect choice. You get a 1st round QB in the 2nd (starting to doubt he will be there). Mettenberger IMO is right there with Bortles and better than Bridgewater, played in a pro style offense with Cam Cameron as the OC, seems to be a real good fit for Wiz. Jaworski ranked him the 2nd best QB in this draft behind Bortles. The real question is if he makes it to the Titans 2nd round pick. I'd even watch for Webster to seriously consider trading up again in the 2nd or to a late 1st to make it happen. I just think that if you're going to pick a QB high, you better get someone that you know can replace Jake. The only two I think would start next year in the entire draft is Manziel or Bridgewater. And neither will be there at 42. Manziel will be too dynamic to sit next year and I think Bridgewater is the best QB to come out since Luck and probably better than anyone next year. Everyone else is probably not going to beat out Jake. And If the QB you pick likely can't, then you've just wasted a high pick on someone who probably won't make an impact for a year or two at best. That 2nd rounder can provide a major piece that can help us next year. I like Mettenburger, but I don't see him as that much better as QB's that will be available later. A 1st ,2nd, 4th of someone like Dee Ford, Carlos Hyde, and say Aaron Murray will help us next year alot more than say, Ford, Mettenburger, and some 4th round RB like West. I can see your point though - if you like Mettenberger (or any of the other QBs) and think that it's an upgrade on Jake short and/or longterm - you take him. WG53
Mettenberger is not a first round qb in the second.
Bobo
Jaworski thinks Metternberger is the 2nd best QB in the whole draft. Mettenbugger has made some of the most impressive throws I have seen in this draft. His arm may be the best combo of strength and accuracy. His placement on deep balls looked really good, and he looked very accurate on intermediate routes. It looks like he's not limited anywhere on the field, whereas some QB's look weak on certain throws. We do have 2 high picks invested in totally different WR's who could benefit from a QB with a complete arm to hit the deep ball and get it consistently to the chain mover. He's not athletic, so our pass protection would have to improve to take advantage of it. I'm not too worried about his dismissal from Georgia from the specifics I know of that situation, but I'd say his background has to be looked into closely and interviews should be emphasized to get a feel for who he is and what kind of leader he is. oldschool
Jaworski thinks Metternberger is the 2nd best QB in the whole draft. He also thinks Kaepernick could be the greatest QB of all time.

Guest
I really like Mettenberger's skill set, and I bet the Titans would take him if he's there. The problem is that he won't be there in the 2nd, and neither will Garopollo.
