abenjami
Well he's a free agent and we are about to find out. What we do know for sure is the Colts were willing to pay a first round pick for Trent Richardson but so far they have not been willing to pay CJ the league minimum. Oiler FANatic
I think you have that backwards, CJ won't be playing for the minimum next fall. He will earn much more than that, don't kid yourself. At this point in free agency, most teams have already spent about all they're planning to. No FA available right now will get more than CJ does. There just aren't many teams out there with money left to spend on a formerly elite player who may still have quite a bit left in the tank.
abenjami
I agree he will be playing for more than the league minimum. There's always at least one desperate sucker willing to throw money at a has been. Look at what Dallas paid Eddie George.
IsntLifeFunny
CJ, for as terrible as he's been, has a lot more left in the tank than Eddie when he went to Dallas.
OILERMAN
The problem is he's a very limited player. Someone like Sproles was valued highly as a receiving RB but what does CJ offer? He's not good in the passing game, is not good in short yardage and he hasn't carried the load effectively in a really long time. As long as he realizes he's not getting big money someone will sign him. In short the league likely views him for what he is, not very good.

If a cash strapped team really wanted him they could make one quick roster move and pay his salary. The fact that he is not in high demand its not because teams have already spent all their cap money. Most teams still have enough cap flexibility to take care of his market value. They just don't want him.
Face
He did get screwed getting cut so late into the offseason. This is that weird time where teams basically just push FA to the side & focus on the draft. Most of these guys will be signed after the draft I assume. Granted, even though he's not that good anymore he's still a huge name, so he should sign fairly quickly. But right now it's crickets, he's been cut for a week. He certainly hasn't gotten the reception that DeSean got. What'd Moreno get paid? $2.5 mil? At this point he's close to or about the same as CJ running the ball, but does a lot more in the pass game. Could be tough sledding for CJ.
CMJ
Teams are asking CJ to run the 40. LOL Wow

oldschool
It's obvious how the NFL feels about CJ. Everyone knew the Titans were going to cut him and yet not one team wanted to trade for him. Restructuring his contract could have easily been part of any trade as well. The lack of interest on the FA market is even more telling. He's done and the NFL knows it.
OILERMAN
I heard Greg Cossell talking about why CJ hasn't gotten any interest as of yet. He really didn't say anything new. He just said CJ isn't a featured RB and aside from long runs he cannot sustain a running game. He said if the play is blocked for 3 yards he isn't getting any more than that. He basically just talked about the RB position overall and how there really aren't many RBs you can build an offense around, mentioned Lynch and AP. He also said CJ might still be delusional about what a team might give him

CJ should have had his agent make it clear to the FO that he was willing to take a paycut, and a healthy one at that. While I don't think anyone could foresee the market for backs being as cold as it is, CJ & his people had to know that he was going to be making a fraction of his salary no matter where he ended up. His best bet would have been a preemptive offer to cut his salary in half, which probably wouldn't even be enough but the team may have went for it, or at least negotiate. Now he's stuck in a period where most money has been spent & teams are focused on the draft. Then again I think that Wiz wanted him out no matter what, salary didn't really matter at that point. OILERMAN
Over the last week and a half I've also listened to Mike Florio discuss CJ. He's totally delusional. He orginally said CJ would still get his 8 mill this year with bonuses and his base salary(with his new team). Yesterday he's now saying he'll likely only get 3.5-4 mill this season. WTF is he watching? He also said a team like the Bronco's should be all over him as if the Bronco's would be getting 1999 Marshall Faulk.
