Britt to Rams

I certainly understand this negativity given the past lack of performance for Britt here.  You may be completely correct that the ceiling might be simply a contribution rather than an elite addition.  I do, however, think that he is young enough at 25 to reassess his priorities and refocus his remaining skills to contribute at a higher level than you seem to believe.  We will see.  I hate that he failed here, but hope for his sake that he will shine in a new arena.

25 is young and if he did take the time and effort needed to refocus his career and get back on track then maybe he could get back to being a legit #1.  Of course they signed him to a 1 year deal and Britt has guaranteed that he will be a #1 receiver next year.  Doesn't sound like a very good approach to me.

I don't think it's a bad idea to take a chance on someone like Britt but the idea that he is going to suddenly get it and dominate is very unlikely.

So a 1 yr deal doesnt make alot of sense to me.

I have more of a problem with the whole low risk high reward shit people spew.

He's being signed because of his potential ..if he was 5'10" he would be sitting at home because of his lack of production.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he makes the team for the same reason..potential.

If the Rams truly are just bringing him in to see if he still has it then fine...but the only way there is a low risk is if he gets cut before the season starts.  Otherwise he's on the team and IMO he's gonna drop some easy catches and he's gonna be in a position to change the outcome of games and as we have seen lately it is generally not in a good way.

And if he does start to show any potential to be the receiver that some thought he could be then guess what...he's on a one year deal..

LOL @ Jeff.

Oman will predictably praise this signing and then run for the hills, from many of us, when Britt bombs out and can't even outperform Givens.

@OILERMAN has already stated that he's a good low risk/high reward type signing he'd make for any other team. He's said it at least two or three times already.

Britt is the type of free agent I'd be all over if he was from another team but he can't return to this team, too much baggage.

What makes anyone believe a change of scenery is going to help him accomplish anything?

He had a change of scenery from Rutgers to Nashville and that didn't help.

St. Louis is a worse scene for him than Nashville.

Britt got 555K guaranteed so the signing isn't entirely without risk.

What does this signing say about Brian Quick who the rams drafted with the 33rd overall pick two years ago?

555k is almost nothing and the signing says nothing of any substance about Quick

Britt is young and has shown monster potential so he got a cheap one year deal

For every practice rep or snap in a game that Britt takes, there will be one less for someone in a receiving corps that currently includes Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey, Chris Givens, Austin Pettis and Brian Quick.

Britt’s body type most resembles Quick, so it could be Quick who suffers most in terms of playing time.

In two seasons since getting selected 33rd overall, Quick has totaled just 29 catches for 458 yards and four touchdowns. And like Britt, he's a big-bodied outside wideout that profiles as an "X" receiver. If Britt's knee is right and his head is on straight, Quick may not even get the 361 snaps he saw in 2013.

Yea, looks like Quick is right there with Pead.  Just like I said on draft day.  All those extra picks aren't worth a damn if you blow them.  But we already knew Jeff has a problem with second round picks.

After this draft the Rams will have taken 30 picks in the last 3 years, plus a number of high profile free agents.  We'll see how complete his team is soon enough.
