I don't see it with Attaochu. Too wound up and not flexible. Doesn't have the hand use, power and leverage to win in tight spaces. He's an above average athlete who is relentless. He works hard and is a high motor guy but I don't see anything special. He's very likely going to end up as a rotational depth player and if anyone drafts him in the second round he will likely end up a disappointment. There's not a lot of traits to translate to the next level.

Sounds similar to Nathaniel Adibi from Va Tech, not sure if you remember him. Had a great size/speed combo & played his ass off, just wasn't very flexible & was tight, seemed like he just didn't have the wiggle to get away from blockers. That said I haven't watched film on Attaochu, seems like people either love or hate him.

As for the OP's question, 1-2 weeks ago I would have said Donald, no doubt. But the more I've read about Barr the more I like. This kid is just a crazy athlete, and if he really is as raw as some say, it's going to be scary when he gets it, because he's already produced in a big way the last 2 years. We also need a true 'LEO" in the worst way, it's our biggest need outside of QB if Jake busts. But it's still close for me, because like Sox said, Donald is a rare breed man. A kid with that production & size/speed combo at DT is uncommon, to say the least. And nothing can destroy a gameplan like pressure up the middle.

So at this point I'll be diplomatic & call it a draw. These kids are both tremendous prospects & we would be lucky to get one of them.

That vid of Attaochu is not the most even representation from what I've seen. He has flaws though. In the context of this discussion, I still like the idea of Donald over Barr and then trying to bolster the outside rush with a guy like Attaochu later (Ford has looked great with his outside rush from what I have seen, just not sure he's there in the 2nd). It'd be nice to have that 3rd if a guy falls that far who could fit that need well.

But even with my opinion that this teams needs outside pressure more than anything, Casey and Donald getting good inside pressure could have QB's scrambling right into the outside guys, even if the outside guys aren't generating much pressure themselves. Destroying the inside could make the outside adequate. Either way, it's Donald #1.

Attaochu:

(Can't embed)

He's strong for his size. He's extremely fast. He's not the most refined rusher but he beats guys clean with a variety of moves (somewhat lacking in counters when his first move is stopped). You can line him up in a ton of different places. He has experience dropping into coverage. He's effective on the edge. He can pursue better than any LB in the draft - chases down RBs and WRs. Plays with a great motor. I've been high on him from the start.

Barr is only going to be a sub package guy as a rookie. He'll be used as a pass rusher like Aldon Smith was.

I'd take Donald on the grounds of him being a better player and having a higher upside. Figure out where to play him in camp. I think he's more ready to play as a OLB on base downs than Barr is. I think he'll end up being a pass rusher you can move around that has the movement ability to play on the edge even at 285.

Haha what a ridiculous profile on Attaochu.

I think the guy that makes the videos focuses on two to three games at the most to look tape on, which is unfortunate because he has the best quality in highlight tapes in my opinion. But he tries to show both positive and negatives of every player he makes a video on. If you want a video showing just of Attaochu's highlights that's probably not the best video to watch I'll admit.

I am talking about Cyrus.
