Titans trying to trade CJ (Update pg. 24: Release Expected Today)

Woodhead is very short but is thickly built with good mass, Dexter Mc is not built like that. Woodhead was used as a traditional RB for most of his career.

We still need another 1st & 2nd down back, and I really wish we'd sign one rather than draft one. This is a buyers market for backs. Andre Brown is a good one. I wish we would've signed Donald Brown though, he would of given us just as much help in the passing game as Dexter & also given us a dozen or so productive carries a game.

Not that I'm overly confident in his abilities, but I honestly think they believe McCluster can run and will give him plenty of opportunities until/unless he proves he can't. He'll also be somewhat of a wildcard guy if they can establish the run because overall I expect production catching the ball and if when he lines up they have to play both then it helps... but my honest guess in that they want to give him 100-150 carries.

he'll get more than 6-8 runs a game and 5-7 receptions imo

So he will have more than between 80 and 112 receptions this season? Good luck with that prediction. Maybe you were thinking of Kendall Wright.

It'll be interesting to see what they do at RB from here on, we should have an idea what their plans are for McCluster's carries based on who they sign or draft. But I suspect you may be right, I've thought since they signed him that he may get more carries than we think.

This actually made me laugh. Maybe I should go to bed:

"@ChrisJohnson28: Im already sign to the titans lol RT @Jwoodall32: @ChrisJohnson28 do you think a team will sign you or nah?"

I would say in any given game he'll probably get more than 6-8 runs and/or 5-7 rec. That doesn't mean he'll surpass both in every game but I'd assume that's the goal especially on the runs.

I think he will get closer to 50 carries (like Sproles had in NO) unless we run into some injuries with the other RBs or something. 3-4 carries a game. I agree he will probably have 50 catches. 6 carries a game would be 96 for the year so that might be the high side (closer to Woodhead).

Wiz has no experience with sproles.

He does have experience with woodhea and larod stephens-howling.

Both of those guys got ~ 100 carries

The one thing you will notice about wiz's offenses is a consistantly pretty damn good running game. there was a couple of seasons in AZ where he had no QB or RB... and that fell off a bit, but he got beanie wells 1000 yards... so the commitment is there to easily see a 3rd string RB get a high amount of carries.

Some teams he had 3 RB's and a FB that contributed heavily in amount of touches.

This is somewhat of an obvious statement, but it all depends on who they draft, or if they bring in another FA. If we take a guy in the 2-5th, then it's probably a good sign that Dex is the third back, gadget player. If it's a 6th or 7th rounder, or a camp body, then they probably feel he can be the second back and will get around 100 carries/ 50 rec.

We are obviously going to get another RB. But even if we went with Battle on the roster he would probably get as many or more carries than McCluster. It also depends on if we carry a FB as well and I think Wiz will keep one. Then you have a guy like Mooney getting some carries as well.

Mooney has had how many carries? Battle is terrible.

Like I said, if we don't bring in another guy in FA or in the first five rounds (we probably will) then Dex is easily getting around 100 carries. Even if we pick up a RB2, that's an awful lot of money for a guy to get under 70 carries. We'll just have to see. I think he should get 150 touches on offense.

Just saying Sox. The guy would be getting paid an awful lot of money for only 100 touches.

They said he was going to play RB, and if he does well, then he'll continue to get the ball. With those statements in mind, I'm optimistic that he does well and the coaches stick by their word.

100 touches and 100 carries are not the same thing.

He is going to be a target in the passing game more than a runner. But that doesn't mean he won't get a few carries every game. Even if just to keep the D honest.

That was my point. Sox is saying he'll get around 50 carries and 50 receptions. I think he'll get closer to 150, on close to 100 carries.
