New article on Webster and Munch (potentially not on the same page)

Webster is creeping up the shit list. The CJ and Wimbley contracts are busts. This team would have looked so much better with Avril, Bennett, or Abraham; two could have been signed with CJ's money. Martin inactive. Warmack busting, while Fluker and Warford have looked really good. Can't stop the run because our one tech can't anchor (Louteili sitting there at ten), and Warford has outplayed our tenth pick as a third rounder. He better get a new coaching staff and seal the holes at DE and MLB going into next year. If we don't have 2 of 3 of MLB, DE, new QB by next year, then I'll be ready to move on from Web.

Yes Warmack has played like shit

Webster is bringing in great talent in the draft

it's not his fault the coaches are complete shit, and don't know how to coach up the talent he is bringing in...

Give Mike McCarthy, the Harbaugh brothers, Carrol, Belichik, or Fox this roster... Different story totally... Those guys coach players up

Munchak coaches them down

I agree. It's tough to tell if the players are lacking talent or not being coached properly, or both. But you can't deny how terrible the CJ and Wimbley contracts have been, even if they came about because of circumstance.

I don't care about coaching for Warmack. He plays right guard, the simplest position for any full-time starter. He should have showed more, especially with how well other players who were available at the time and later have played.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but I won't if he brings back Munchak, because that's his only excuse as to why the line and LBs have been horrible.

I really hope not Oilerman. If they keep Chris Johnson I'll be pissed.

Keeping CJ this season is no more ridiculous than it was last season. What's the difference? An 80yder against the Bears against their back-ups is likely the only thing separating pretty much the exact same numbers.

The fact Tommy Smith said the coaches are using him wrong recently leads me to believe Webster has probably recently told him that.

It's the one thing Munchak has in his corner to argue about this failed season. I can see some rah rah fan saying, hey he had 1200 yards he did ok, golly gee. But for an NFL GM to keep a RB as bad as CJ at his insane cap hit while actually trying to build the offense around him is so crazy it deserves getting fired over.

if CJ returns it will be a huge red flag that Webster is unable to acknowledge his mistakes.

It was last year, this year is no different than last year. There was as much info last off season as there is this off season.

Last year the OL was the built in excuse and CJ was a year less removed from his 1400 yard season 2010. There is no blame left to go around. CJ sucks and needs to be cut. I question whether Webster will do what needs to be done.

An objective GM can easily separate the performance of the OL and a RB. You can make the same excuses this season as last season with the OL.

Munchak is a clueless bafoon and even he knew they needed to get rid of CJ.

You mentioned this all year long. PK recenty said on the Midday180 radio show that Munch also advocated keeping CJ.

The he's going against his own reporting. Kuharsky reported that Munchak wanted to get rid of CJ and Webster wanted to keep him. Then Webster said in a presser there was internal debate about whether to keep CJ or not. I'm pretty sure based on those facts it wouldn't make much sense for both of them to advocate keeping CJ. Who were they arguing with if they both agreed? You likely heard it wrong.

I agree. I'm not sure Webster is being objective though.

Pretty sure I didn't. Question on the show was, what Munchak's positive impact is/was. A guy called in and said he liked the way Munch has built the roster, except for CJ. PK then went on and made clear that Webster is responsible for building the roster. But he also said that Munch wanted to keep CJ, too. He actually totally destroyed the caller.

I remember that you know it from PK. He never wrote an artice on it though if I remember it correctly. His source was probably not trustworthy enough.

I also can't find any article on an internal debate regarding CJ. They've probably discussed it in the offseason and why shouldn't they ? The only quote I could find (Link from early 2013):

On the decision to pay Chris Johnson $10 million for 2013: “We covered all of our bases and talked about everything and just figured the best decision for us was to keep Chris and move forward. He is really our most dynamic player, and just add pieces around him and make him better through the other guys on the team.”

I've posted the quote from Webster about the internal debate numerous times and others heard Kuharsky say on the radio that Munchak wanted CJ cut. @ctm for one posted it.

Just look at Munchak's comment after they signed Greene. He raved about him, compared him to Eddie George and saud he would not just be a change of pace RB and could get drives etc.......
