Pollard being awesome again. Tells White-House and Ravens no thanks to keep training in TN

The only thing you said in this thread about Pollard is this.

So once again... Why is he not a good Safety?

I will give you my reason as to why I think he will be effective in his role here... The same role he has been effective in on each team he has played with.

He plays in the box... He is not asked to play centerfield to cover the deep pass. He is here to help with run support in the box, and not to be left on an island for man coverage... Will he cover a TE every now and then? Yes, but only on occasions when we are blitzing Brown, and lining Ayers up at DE... He won't be asked to cover TE's or RB's... That is why we drafted LB's in Brown, and Gooden with blazing fast speed, and damn good coverage qualities in the last two drafts.

He plays in the box... Smacks receivers, running backs, and tight ends who come across the middle, and plays the run... He is not asked to play the role of a FS... When we ask our SS to play the pass in obvious situations a guy named George Wilson will be rotated in... He is the SS that we signed in FA that is effective against the pass.

He is a tackling machine... Aggressive... Fearless... He is a Safety who is not left on an island, or isolated as you say to be exposed. We have a well qualified coach assisting our DC who has his finger prints all over this signing, and that man is Greg Williams who is smart enough to mask Pollards weakness which is man coverage, and playing centerfield... He will play Pollards strengths which is to bring him in the box, and stuff the run, and cover intermediate routes... No man to man unless we are blitzing our LB's...

He has played this role very effectively, and at a high level with all the teams he has played for. He wasn't cut from any team b/c he is not good enough, or because he is not a starter... He was cut from those teams b/c of either salary demands, or attitude issues.

So please give some feedback to the topic at hand... Lets talk about Pollard, and why he won't be effective in this defense.

And don't use the b/c he can't cover excuse... That is why we signed George Wilson whom is good in coverage, and will play alongside Griffin in obvious passing situations.

What are you going to do when he is isolated in coverage and gets abused?

and in the "Titans like additional options at Safety" thread

You didn't even speak on Pollard... You made one post about CJ, and another post about Lendale White's 80 yard run...

I'm searching... Can't find anything

I think what you are missing is that when Pollard is on the field that creative OCs will by use of personnel package, formation and play design force Pollard into coverage.  It's a legitimate concern.

It's the reason he was signed so cheaply. In today's passing era he's a big liability in coverage.

I think it's very possible when the Titans go to their base nickel package Pollard could be replaced by Wilson as the safety, then Pollard will play in the dime when they play their Ruby packages(3 safeties).

When all is said and done Wilson might play more snaps than Pollard.

It is curious that the Titans have been promoting competition as a method to improve the team, except at safety.  Pollard was anointed the starter as soon as he was signed.

Meh too cynical to call this awesome.

Instead i choose to believe he:

1. Is grandstanding...stupidly so.

2. has a very narrow focus in life

In either case I've decided to not celebrate his awesomeness.
