Also makes me wonder just how commonplace this kind of thing is. I wonder how Gosnell would feel about a death sentence where they send him to the guillotine with a rusty, dull blade? They should be treated as what they are...murdering a baby. Just imagine if someone with a 3-month old walked into a hospital and said, look my life sucks and I can't take care of this child. I'd like to have it put down, but let's do it in a safe way. Would anyone see that as acceptable and legal? No way. Why do we treat it so differently? Yes, it's living inside a woman, but the very second that baby exits the womb, killing it would be seen as one of the most heinous crimes in our society. It's ridiculous. Imagine the history books thousands of years from now. "The U.S. government permitted the murdering of its own children, so long as they were still in the womb and performed in a manner safe for the mother. Women who didn't want their children only had to visit their nearest abortion clinic to have the baby sucked from their body." With all the adoption alternatives, the morning-after pill, and other forms of contraception, there's really no excuse left for this to be allowed in our country. I'm sure you'll love it: If you all on the right hate abortion so much, you should be willing to spend a little money to make it so. Certainly god would want you to spend that money to save all those unborn babies... assuming they are worth as much to you as money is? And it doesn't have to be a government program. I'm sure conservatives could limit the intervention of big government to passing a law to ban abortions (like they have tried to do for years in their lust for big government). Then conservatives could privately fund a huge chain of orphanages that cater specifically to mothers who would have otherwise chosen an abortion. Just think... the harmonic melding of a ban on abortions combined with a highly efficient private organization run by conservatives. There's nothing you could possibly object to. Unless you care more about money than the lives of innocent unborn children, that is... And we could continue to ban abortions indefinitely so long as conservatives continue to vote to do so with their wallet. As long as the voluntary funding was there, we'd never have to allow another abortion. It would be a triumph of capitalism! It all sounds like a conservative's wet dream... It's easy for you to make assumptions about people based one one view/belief and then conveniently lump them into other categories based off your prior frame of reference as your brain attempts to categorize me. You're so politically partisan that everything instantly becomes about "politics" instead of the actual issue, which in this case, is the "safe" murder of innocent babies. It shouldn't be condoned, made safe, and/or legal by our government: period. It should be deemed and recognized legally as exactly what it is: murder. And for the record...I do care more about unborn children than I do money. If you actually attempted to comprehend what I'm saying instead of lumping me into your neatly carved political stereotype then you'd already know that.
