What team has been winning superbowls by overpaying for FAs? the only time big names go to a team that isn't a perennial contender is when they get paid like a HOFer. Plug that into the salary cap equation.

The New England Patriots made a living off signing free agents from elsewhere. Terrell Buckley, Ted Washington, Ty Law & many others were not drafted by NE.

Free agent signings CAN get you to a Super Bowl if done correctly and strategically. Most super bowl teams don't misuse the draft OR free agency. Most build through the draft by drafting talented players, coaching them correctly, and retaining them within reason.

We've barely drafted well the last 10 years, so we've been in a position where we had to sign free agents to rebuild a team. What Super Bowl team has done THAT?

Another insult with nothing added to the discussion.

As if your drivel ever adds anything.

You cite NE for signing FAs. Their FAs were mid tier or below not blockbuster signings like you advocate.

Please tell me how we should have drafted Geno Smith at #10 or how you hope Lacey would fall to #10 .

And Ty Law was drafted by NE dipshit.

That's pretty much what I was implying. We have drafted soooo poorly the past decade that we have to allocate money in FA to build a roster, not pay elite players to be pieces to the puzzle. We have to pay players to come in and be the table the puzzle is built on.

We had no chance to become a truly successful well rounded team this offseason, Signing Wallace/Jennings/Others of that nature would have just handicapped us I believe. That's my biggest gripe with all your FA hoopla over signing big names. We would have overpayed up the ass to upgrade one area of the team instead of making us a better team in many aspects. You can't look at contracts and see what we could have done to accommodate that money, you have to add a few mil. per year per player because many big names this offseason went to a decent team or a playoff team. We are anything but a decent team.

I see your point...and it is valid. But my fear is our foot is on the gas with the gear in neutral by only constantly "filling holes."

We've NEVER signed guys like this. The closest we came was in 2006 when we got Thornton/Hope/etc. My concern was that we could have filled the necessary holes and still gotten one of the higher caliber difference makers. I like the Levitre signing, but his success (and thus the OL's success) is tied to Locker and CJ. If Locker & CJ can't put it together, the Levitre signing & the Warmack pick is all in vain.

Thanks for adding to the discussion. At least we can disagree without being disagreeable, unlike some of the rest of the slack asses.

If Geno Smith actually pans out (or better), we'd look like geniuses. If he doesn't, you don't lose as much because of the rookie wage scale. You can hide his deficiencies, and at worst, he's trade bait (ala, Kevin Kolb in Philadelphia).

This is ALL about expectations. Most of you don't care if the Titans win the Super Bowl or not. Just happy with playoff games. Like under fisher. Content with being in the hunt and just hoping to break through one year. Braves baseball, Tennessee Vols football, Memphis Grizzlies basketball, Nashville Predators hockey do it this way. You'll win games but you won't win Championships.

You have no idea what the rest of us think or want. It is presumptuous to say otherwise.

Cant speak for everyone but, pretty sure nobody here was happy when the titans lost to the ravens in 09 playoffs.

True. But I also believe most people would deem that year a success. They were 13-3, had home field advantage. They were in position....The Titans are building to be the Texans, Cowboys and Cinny, playoff teams with no where to go.

You assumed I wasn't a 'paying customer' so don't tell me about presumptions...As we continue to cheer this team to 9-7 or 10-6 and think everything is better.

If, by your own admission, paying your cable bill and buying an occasional shirt qualifies you as a 'paying customer', then you qualify.

But that has nothing to do with you knowing what the rest think winning a super bowl.
