How do we fix it?

Looks like Griffin is here to stay for at least another year which I'm fine w/. He's not great but he'll do. He's not Babs or RoJo back there.

FA? Landry? Byrd? Who?

Draft?

McCourty to safety?

Personally I still wouldn't mind signing Landry. He's got history working w/ Gray. The ankle hasn't been an issue so far this year. Sign him to a resonable deal and then if someone like Martin steps up, great. That way safety is "fixed" going into the draft and we can focus on a different position and possibly still draft a talented raw kid in the 2nd or later.

Landry would be ok...William Moore from Atl may be another good one. They need an enforcer type to add fear to the back end of this defense. I think this is something they need to get in free agency. Also add some depth through the draft.

McCourty is not a safety that is just ignorant to think he could be a SS...

Byrd will be resigned by the bills.

Moore is a perfect fit for our scheme, and he should come at a decent price...

Landry would be another good fit as well, but he is going to be looking for a big payday... He indicated as much by saying he wouldn't take a discount to stay with the Jets

In the draft Elam, and Reid are other options that would fit in well with what we are doing

And one more time... No to McCourty being a SS

And why is that exactly? Because his roster position on nfl.com says CB? Hell I would like to know if he could do better than Griffin. His twin brother is playing FS in NE, he is better in zone coverage, and he is sure as hell a better tackler than Griffin.

Landry is abysmal in coverage. Good teams find a way to isolate him in the passing game. Pass. The McCourty talk to Safety is comical. He's the best CB on the team by a large margin. We would be weakening CB in order to piece meal Safety.

Letting him move to safety would be enable players like Cambell to get some playing time during these last two meaningless games.

Are you sure your not saying the same thing about his brother being a Safety now?

He is too lanky, doesn't shed blockers well, and is too good of a CB for us to just switch him spots without the depth behind him to back it up

Also switching Griffin over to SS is a disaster... We already seen evidence of that

I agree actually except for the Landry part. I haven't watched him enough to know.

Is anyone talking about a permant switch? No. And I was not wanting to switch Griffin to SS or McCourty. Just let McCourty get some reps in cover 2 safety.

It does two things for us:

1. Lets us see if McCourty has the capability to play saftey (CBs are easier to find than Safties)

2. Give the younger guys more playing time at CB.

I doubt Campbell matters enough to warrant moving a defensive starter to an unfamiliar position.

I've watched enought Skins games to know considering my wife is a fan. It's painful. Landry would have been an All pro in the box Safety before 2000.
