tinman
The "dropping the dime" expression came about from reporters back in the days where if you were on the move and needed to comunicate quickly to someone back at the office you put a dime in a pay phone and spilled the beans... In today's world it would more like " Tweeted the goods " or " Whistle Blogging" Just saying you old farts are showing your age..
Tim
After Floyd was canned, Fisher was more than just the head coach. Anyone that doesn't know that is just stupid.
freakingeek
The entertainment value at this message board is off the charts. It really makes me feel like I'm not donating enough. It's like a combination of Hardball with Chris Matthews, Jerry Springer, Saturday night live, Monty Python, King of the Hill, Beavis and Butthead and NFL Today.. I think that was Fisher's downfall. There was no system of checks and balances anymore. Total control over ALL personel, players and coaches, is too much for one person to handle. The cronyism took presedence over good judgement. Bud gave him a basket case quarterback and enough rope to hang himself.

Tim
Freakingeek yes. I said for years it was going to be his downfall before it happened. And I thought he was a good coach on the field. A coach can't do it all. Only in rare instances.
tinman
We will never know if he could do it all to be honest with you.. Bud stacked the deck on him . He had his hands full with a full blown retard QB which really did a number on the team and Fisher IMO. Then there was the cheap owner not getting him the staff he wanted... You have to see that he was in a no win situation once VY broke down..
freakingeek
Bud dealt Fish a crappy hand but hiring guys like Corky was all on Jeff. It was bad enough that the hired him but if Fish hadn't resigned, he would have still been the DC the following year. That was when I really lost faith in him. CORKY was third choice after Williams said no cause Bud wouldn't let him bring JR on, then McGinnus said no he wanted to stay position/asst hc ... Cecil was a "OH SHIT NO ONE LEFT NOW WHAT" choice.. code
Why are we still talking about Fisher, Bongo, and or anything else that has to do with ancient history?
tinman
Bud demanded along with MR that Corky be terminated. Fisher refused and lost his job in the process. Revisionist History again... Fisher resigned, FISHER gave up his job.. He would have coached and would have kept Corky regardless of what BUD wanted. Kinda stick it to the old man like he did him in 05.. Also you guys were so quick to call schwartz a failure after 2 years, how did that turn out?? Not saying Cecil was a good DC, but come one who is gonna take a staff position on a team where the headcoach is on the last year of his contract and no signs of getting an extension?? That job would be pretty low on every DC's list..
scine09
Be thankful that Bud Adams said no to Williams. The Titans could have been in the same situation as the Saints had he said yes.
