No, you're right I wasn't into that. But I also only saw that as a minor annoyance and thought the rest was still pretty good. I'll give seasons 5-8 this, even when I thought it was "bad" it was still some of the more compelling television of the time. Not Breaking Bad level, but still upper tier. Put another way, even if I thought those seasons weren't as good as the first four I still enjoyed watching them. I'm glad they're continuing the series. New Blood just wasn't a good enough comeback by itself. And being a GOT fan seeing Peter Dinklage in it is pretty friggin cool. Dexter Morgan? The weakness was that I don’t feel like the writing matched the intensity of s1,2 and 4. There were moments /or arcs that I liked but it was never consistent enough for an entire year and just a lot of filler stuff in between these moments. The overall vibe of the episodes reminds me a bit of the eaely seasons. The new characters all seem interesting so far. I had a qualm about a couple things, but at the end of the day they're semi-plausible. Other than that I'm looking forward to the rest of the season. They are exaggerated caricatures of those people in Dexter's mind. It's basically just Dexter talking to himself from their point of view, or his perception of their point of view, pitting himself against what he thinks they would think and say about whatever given situation/predicament he finds himself in. As for the serial killer angle? I was wondering how Dexter would find himself entangled with the Epstein's Island-esque serial killer sewing circle given that they really weren't aware of him and are extremely underground. But he, a serial killer, assuming the identity of this other serial killer he killed to gain entry into this serial killer inner circle is seriously meta AF. I love it and I hope it pays off.
