LeSean McCoy 5 yr $45 million deal

It's in the first post, guys. At the worst part of the year, when CJ was averaging less than a fall forward per carry, there was hyperbole going on around here that identified four RBs who got news deals and said that they had ruined/proved RBs contracts for all time, and that no team would pay a RB like them again. Yes, Frank Gore is included.

No, I'm not incapable of noting the difference between CJ or AP's deal and LeSean McCoy.

Yes, some people were so delusional that they think Frank Gore's deal was similar to CJ's and unreasonable for a RB.

McCoy's deal is right in line with Gore's. IIRC Gore got $21M over 3.

But Gore wear & tear was way higher, yes? Also, i'm not sure his contribution to a dynamic passing attack is the same as McCoy's. I'm not sure if CJ's contract was too high or McCoy's agent has some 'splainin to do.

YPC, likely. I'd have to search it out again.

I'm fine if he wants to cop out an claim CJ, Gore, Williams and an injured AP performed well enough to turn the tide for the future of RBs. I'd laugh at the suggestion, but it'd be something.

Well DeAngelo Williams ended up with 5.4 YPC on the season and Gore had 4.3 YPC. I would say that qualifies as that stat changing drastically from when he said that around week 3.

Yep, it was changed about two weeks later. I posted about it at the time.

Like I said, if the claim is that they did well enough that people decided those contracts are worth it... go ahead and make it. Their collective seasons were still trash.

The fact remains that RBs will continue to get paid. Nobody was going to look at LeSean and pay him less because CJ and the Titans run game was a joke, AP got injured, Williams is a part-time back, and Gore is on his way out of the league. None of them are LeSean. Teams will research LeSean and pay him based on his guessed at future.

Houston didn't look at Arian Foster and say "Hey, we found this guy on the trash heap, we'll just discard him if he wants money. RBs aren't worth the cash." They paid him.

It's just a ridiculous position and only a fan would take it... and only other fans would agree.

I agree that teams aren't going to base their decision on how much to pay their RB on how those guys performed after their contracts were done.

I do believe paying a RB a ton of money is a stupid move. What the Eagles paid McCoy is a good way to do it. You pay him a nice amount for his production on a one or two year basis and have an out.

The Titans had an out with CJ's deal as early as this year (where "out" is defined as a cap gain on release).

Yeah but they paid him stupid money for a year and are now locked in for another stupid money year.

So what's the purpose of this thread Jamal...to try to convince everyone how smart you think you are or to show how much you can't stand Oman's posts? Do you have any other hobbies besides arguing or reading dictionaries and encyclopedias?

Just pointing out the worst of the hysteria, now that it has passed. There's a bunch of funny nonsense from a select few from back in September and October... and it was readily gulped down by the sheep.

I'm suggesting you ask more of yourselves in the future. You can take that as an insult, or as a compliment that even you are capable of more... and I think maybe you should look dictionary up in the dictionary. This thread is about math, if anything.
