Either commit resources to a viable choice via draft or the market but wasting draft capital and time when you're dealing with a short time window is stupid. All they're doing is giving the illusion of addressing the issue. If we go into the tank do you think anyone will say "At least we TRIED and drafted Malik Willis and Levis" when it will have been even more painfully obvious at that time that it was always a very low probability of success? Does anyone understand the concept that "sunk cost" is not retrievable? I agree. Many felt like the window closed after losing to the Bengals in 2021. I think if healthy, this is a very competitive team. It upsets me that they wasted four incredibly valuable picks on backup QB potential rather than investing those resources in young players that could help them win now. There will be a time when it is inevitable that you have to replace Tannehill, and I would rather be early than late, but this has been a poor strategy for that transition IMO. Even if Willis (against all odds) or Levis pans out, I disagree with the overall strategy.

Plenty of teams have developed successors by using draft capital on QBs in the midst of a championship window (which we really aren't even in unless we get incredibly lucky). In fact it's the best strategy outside of tanking for a guy like Caleb Williams (which I've also suggested many times).
rns90
There's a reason why most franchise qb's are drafted in the first round. All those blown picks spent on qb add up over time.

There is no faster way to mediocrity than to keep throwing picks at low-percentage investments and hoping you hit the lotto. Sure, it happens, but it's rare. For every handful of QBs in the mid-rounds that has panned out, there are 50-100 that didn't. Compare that with the 1 to 3-5 ratio you get in with first-round QBs, and it's not difficult to see why people oppose the strategy.

What I said was that you should invest in a high pick or get a high quality person from the market rather than throwing away draft capital and resources on low possibility of success projects - especially with a comparatively short time window.
