WVTITAN
The virus may cause some workers to unite. Any thoughts on this?

While you enjoy your paid holidays, weekends off, and 8 hour days. Now who's the sheep, bleating unchecked capitalistic talking points. I've come to the position that strong progressive unions around the globe are a good thing , indeed maybe the only thing , to really institutionalize better wealth distribution. My view on unions is based on the fact unions foster complacency and equalize pay for those who dont work as hard. Talk to small business owners in construction or teachers across multiple states for a real a view on unions. Not what MSNBC tells you to think. WVTITAN
Valid points on both sides. I wonder if laws will be updated concerning tipped workers etc.

Now they are used as a crutch by labor forces to shirk responsibility and protect workers from reprimand whether legitimate or not.
Starkiller
People think that this this pandemic will change our society when it’s all said and done. Sometimes pessimistically, sometimes optimistically. But I tend to think that corporate America will continue to have a stranglehold on this country through all of this, so I’m not holding out hope for a rise of worker rights or socialized healthcare being a product of this mess. "Project much?" *projects dated anti-labor union talking points circa 1970s,...* chest pounding "MSNBC,... blah, blah,..." to cover up your bleating: Im-a-company-man-boss! and of course your labor unionz trope is met with the simplistic counterpoint: corporations are stupid greedy, and only care about profits and will unilaterally cut benefits at their first chance! DERP!! Wealth disparity is a problem in a capitalist society and it's in our best interest to see this gap eased to a reasonable level. What are the meaningful mechanisms to ensure a sense of equity? Government, corporate self-regulation, unions or other alternatives. Our government is now little G government, having ceded much of its stewardship to corporations. For this trade-off the quality of life for most people -- the true barometer of of the wealth of an economy, imo -- has not improved at the same rate as corporate profits, even allowing for lags. Unlike the bs UnionZ BaDz monolith you advance, forward thinking and flexible labor unions with a focus on adding value are a good thing for wealth distribution, rather than relying solely on the benevolence of corporations who are ultimately only accountable to their management teams and shareholders. Of course, like any unchecked entity focused on power, unions can and will overreach and lose focus on their mission if allowed -- just like corporations have (Walmart). But to summarily dismiss them as inherently evil while sitting on your ass from their past successes is laughably short-sighted, imo.
