We need a stat correction, stat!

My favorite part of this loss was watching Michael Thomas catch a meaningless pass for -2 yards in garbage time to give you .5 points.

I was losing until Kamara's last 8 yard run.

I'm betting you couldn't drive a nail up your asshole with a sledgehammer right now waiting for that outcome to be finalized. Good job walking that razor's edge.

I'd be more down about my loss if this wasn't by far the most successful season I've had since this league started. I don't think I've ever drafted lower than 5th overall in the 1st round before.

A single yard change will flip this. I won't quit puckering until the next game is well under way.

Russell Wilson took a knee on the last 2 plays of the game, resulting in -2 yards.  That could get stat corrected.

As could the last play of the Philly game where they might get credited with a sack.

I'm rather convinced it's coming.

Russell Wilson's score is actually wrong!

286 passing yards x 0.04 = 11.44 points

2 TD passes x 4 = 8.00 points

That's 19.44 points and they are only crediting him with 19.34 points.  They are docking him 0.10 points because he had -1 rushing yards but our scoring system does not penalize for negative rushing yards.  It's 1 point per 10 yards with no negative value like we have for INT's and fumbles.

I'm not going to check to verify, so just shut up.

It is your duty as assistant commissioner to fix scoring errors and promote the integrity of our game.  Protect the shield!

A fantasy team likely gets negative points for lost yardage.  The points awarded =  yardage X the points per yard.  In this case it was "negative" yardage times the points so "negative" points in that category.  I am not sure if this case's negative yardage was in error as far as its classification but if classified right then the negative points are likely right.

On being classified correctly or incorrectly, there has been controversy in fantasy football scoring because of kneel downs and sack yardage being included or not included in quarterback rush yardage - kneels downs should be and sacks should not.  If it was classified as rushing yards incorrectly, it might get corrected later. Again, I do not know for this case if error or not.

Another way of looking at the negative points is an intra-game change in points.  For example, say a running back has 100 yards at a point in time in a game, and has 10 fantasy points for them.  Then he has a rush for a loss of 3 yards.  His total yards goes down to 97 yards and he now he has 9.7 fantasy points for his rushing portion of his points.  He just had negative 0.3 points awarded but since his overall yardage is still positive, its total is not negative.  Same things happened to the QB in question but his total yardage is negative so he has overall negative points in that category is negative and the absolute negative number, for the rushing category, grew.

Yes, obviously if a guy rushes for 10 yards and then rushes for -3 yards, his total is 7 yards and he gets 0.7 points for those carries combined.  A player's weekly fantasy points are awarded based upon his total yardage for the entire game, not on a per play basis.  This is standard fantasy football scoring.

However, it is not standard to give negative points for negative total yards in a game.  Just like you don't have negative points for interceptions or fumbles unless that is specified in the rules.  The standard is the player just gets a 0, unless the rules specify negative points for negative yards.

Our scoring is 1 point per 10 yards rushing.  It does not say a player will receive negative points if he has negative rushing yards in a game.

I would think this is wrong.  It is simply yardage times the points per yard and in this case the yardage is negative, therefore the points are negative.  I suspect any fantasy system that awards points per yardage would produce negative points if total yardage were negative. I would be really surprised if a system did not do so.

Evidently there is an scoring option toggle for this in Yahoo although I do not find it in ours.   I assume it. or something like it, is on by default.

From its FAQ:

 Negative Points DetailsDone

If you set this option to no, your players will never lose fantasy points for having a negative yardage total. So, a player rushing for 0 yards would receive the same points as a player finishing the game with -10 rushing yards.

By choosing to allow negative yardage points, all players receive negative points for every yard lost. So if your league awards one point for every 10 rushing yards, you would lose one fantasy point for every 10 yards lost.

If you wish to award negative points for a specific scoring category, simply enter a negative number as the point modifier for that category.
