What IS different from the Republican side, right now, is Trumpism. When you have Trump going on TV praising criminals who take one for the team, and saying it ought to be unlawful for a witness to cooperate with his own Justice Department, well then that is something very different. And so the difference is significant here because it emboldens these Republican clowns when they are caught to go on TV and talk about the Deep State and Fake News.

 

But when it comes to defending corrupt politicians, Dems have done it plenty in the past. I don't really here anyone talking about Menendez, and we still don't like to admit too much when it comes to Bill and Hillary. I think it de-values the argument when we try to make this seem like a Republican problem.

 

Now, right now, we absolutely should be talking about Republicans and the culture of corruption that seems to have set in in the Republican party right now. That's fair game.

After all the crazy, disconnected bullshit this prez has uttered I was still stunned to the point of laughter just how f'd up his comments and mindset are on this topic.  Dude is morally corrupt to the point that he thinks laws should accommodate him personally. I asked about Hillary, not Bill(Some of the women did lie and signed off on it). I heard about it, I read the accounts on fact check sites. Saying Hillary didn't believe them is speculation. Did she stay with him for political reasons? Maybe, also speculation. The idea she "went after them" was deemed an exaggeration. The NY Times did a story on Bill wanting to smear Jennifer Flowers and this was on the fact checking article: But the New York Times reporting was not clear how involved Hillary Clinton was in this effort. Hillary called Monica a "Looney Tune" . That's hardly going after someone who slept with your husband. Paula Jones: We have not uncovered instances of Hillary Clinton directly attacking Jones after she filed suit in 1994.

 

I believe she was a corporate lawyer, this is off memory and def hurts her claim as a progressive

 

This is what I'll say about Hillary. She was a poor candidate who was too far right and too wishy washy on stances. The claims you're making are over the top and there is no evidence to support them aside from right wing attacks for decades, some of which I've been guilty of being affected by myself. It's almost all total bullshit and there is no equivalency between her and Trump as far as moral character. Hillary is a jaywalker compared to Trump, who is a lying thieving traitor. 

 

I find myself defending her more these days. She got a raw deal and has for years, she got screwed in the election too. She stood in and took bull shit questions about Bhenghazi and other BS claims like a man for 14 hours. Trump screams it's not fair and refuses to answer anything under oath. 

 

Are there some crooked Dems, Yes. Is Hillary one of them? Hardly.

Over the top? All I said was they ran a shady law practice (well known in Arkansas and among Judges at the time) and that Hillary tried to silence Bill's accusers, which I think is also pretty clear. I didn't say she threatened them, necessarily, but it is obvious she worked to undermine their credibility and silence their voices.

 

If Hillary did the same thing she did back then now, post #MeToo, she would be slaughtered by the left and right.

 

And the reason I brought up Bill is because you reduced his sliminess to "we know he got a BJ." Doing that completely proves my point. When it was just about a BJ, then it was cool to defend Bill. We now know what he did was much more than getting a BJ. Even the BJ itself was inexcusable, he was diddling a girl barely out of college who was an intern and he was President of the United States. He abused his position even if that was consensual, and that was wrong. But you prove my point by completely ignoring the claims of sexual assault and sexual harrassment alleged against Bill. That's what I mean by not coming to terms with his shit.

 

I don't want to make this about Bill and Hillary. All I am saying is Democrats open themselves up to alot of counterarguments if they try to get too high and mighty on this idea that only we care about corruption and the Republicans don't. It's not true, and it undermines credibility. Instead, let's just focus on these slime balls who are in office right now, and demand accountability for that.
