Number9
http://www.espn.com/blog/carolina-panthers/post/_/id/22672/will-concussion-force-cam-newton-to-adjust-his-style-of-play Cam Newton is an extraordinarily gifted athlete. He is the reigning MVP of the NFL and it's possible he might not play against Tampa Bay, MNF. The NFL as noted in another TR thread is suffering a loss of viewership. A matchup between Two Heisman Trophy Number One Draft Picks is a dream for the NFL. Now one is possibly not playing because of biased officiating on helmet to helmet hits, particularly to a QB. This is also a threat to the longevity of a QB who could smash some NFL records. Additionally, the issue of concussions is being brought to the forefront of the NFL. Only one number one draft pick QB is leading his team to a winning record so far this season. I believe there are seven #1 QB picks starting and only Sam Bradford is the starter on a team with a winning record.. A lot of resources are put into one of the 53 positions on NFL rosters and imo it's an atrocity for the league to have looked the other way when the Denver Broncos targeted Cam Newton's head. Doing this at a time when mothers and concerned fathers are directing their children away from the sport is beyond bad business for the NFL that depends on new players/fans. It remains to be seen if the sports media will decide to cover this story with the energy it deserves, but it will happen. If they don't then the mainstream media will stumble upon it or maybe Hollywood gets hold of it. Particularly, if Cam winds up with a shorten career. oldschool
Stfu with this nonsense. Newton's style makes him prone to concussions and this one is 100% on his show boating ass. There isn't some vast nfl led conspiracy against Newton.

I think you are a paranoid idiot. You are the first one flying up here talking about it's race baiting. All I said is the Denver Broncos targeted his head and the NFL decided to just play like it didn't happen. No shut up. Oldstool on down the road. Oldstool on down the road. Bullshit. You flat out said Newton may not play due to biased officiating allowing illegal helmet to helmet hits. We all know you are referring to Broncos game week 1. What's funny is that you probably don't even realize he's in the concussion protocol because he was show boating against the Falcons this past week. You are incredibly transparent on this topic. abenjami
I hope Cam gets to play because I'm playing against Wisco in fantasy and I don't want any excuses for either of us.

If you took time to read the article instead of getting unhinged, you would see he left the game with a little under 12 minutes to go in the fourth. My point, is concussions should be guarded against as much as possible. Once a player gets concussed, it becomes easier in the future. It will be a shame if an elite player is disabled by concussions and has to end his career early. Hopefully, my last response to you. You can't seem to talk about reality without going whacky. abenjami
I don't get it either. The biased league didn't protect Cam in week 1 and now he might not play in week 5 because they won't let him after he concussed himself?

My point there is the league makes those calls every game. One of the non calls was so bad it drew a fine. Titans fans complain constantly about the Titans not getting calls. If that was Mariota and that happened the sentiment here would be different. But Panther fans would not give a shit because Mariota is not their QB. Denver is a favorite team, especially in that match up. But the people who cheer for the Panthers don't deserve less that what's fair. Sadly, people can't talk about things without getting all emotional and upset. But here you see for yourself what allowing a team to hit a player in the head with helmets repeatedly can cause. Now, if all of a sudden Cam is a scratch, the whole league suffers. It's wrong, no matter if the motive is acceptable to some.

DeLamiellure was one of nine players who said "no." A tenth player remarked, “I don’t think so,” and another said, “I don’t know.” But these men seem to be in the minority. Of the 125 players surveyed, 96 players answered affirmatively. Some responded with utter enthusiasm. “Absofrickinlutely!” offensive lineman Jim Sweeney wrote. And Hall of Famer Jack Youngblood, who is experiencing memory and cognitive issues remarked that he would do it over again, “in a minute.” “Being the President of the United States isn’t anywhere near that. There is nothing like playing on Sunday,” Youngblood said. ********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************* These guys are not wrapped too tight. That's a known fact. But they need to be protected. The league is fos.
