Dmeade-
"Shane Ray, DE/OLB, Missouri. Previous Rank: 12 12/3/14: Ray had three tackles with one for a loss last Saturday against Arkansas. Ray has been one of the top pass-rushers in college football this year, and with Markus Golden on the other side from Ray, Missouri hasn't missed Michael Sam and Kony Ealy. Ray is one of the nation's leaders with 13.5 sacks. He also has 59 tackles, 20.5 tackles for a loss and two forced fumbles. The 6-foot-3, 245-pounder is extremely fast with a lightning first-step. He has the agility and hand skills to fight off blockers to turn the corner. Ray is an excellent pursuit defender, too. He needs to get stronger in run defense and holding his ground when runs come straight at him. Ray contributed to Missouri's fierce pass rush during the 2013 season. While he didn't have as big of an impact as Kony Ealy, Michael Sam or Markus Golden, Ray made some plays for the Tigers in their rotation. He had 39 tackles with nine tackles for a loss, 4.5 sacks and two forced fumbles for the year."
Guest
He had a monster hit tonight on Blake Sims against Alabama. Got the boot for it.
Bobo
I've yet to see a full game. Today was going to be the day until he got tossed :-/ You can't miss his elite athleticism, and it's not just straight line speed. I have seen he get manhandled, and we should expect that some at his size, but his pass rush could obviously make up for it. He really seems to fit better as a 3-4 olb. headhunter
I been saying this too, he'd be a great pick.
Dmeade-
Just found this: Mel Kiper thinks he may rise to a #1 pick. http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/mizzou-football/mel-kiper-jr-considers-mizzou-de-shane-ray-potential-1-pick-nfl-draft/
JLocker10
Certainly have to like the success of some of Ray's predecessors at Mizzou (Sheldon Richardson, Aldon Smith). Doesn't guarantee Ray success, but it's nice to know the Mizzou guys before him have translated very well to the NFL.
OILERMAN
I asked about him in another thread.... I have only read his draft bios and really have only seen him play once This is exactly the type of player the Titans need on defense to replace Wimbley
Mythos27
Idk about this kid man. Great pass rusher and will blow up the combine but small and easily overpowered. People compare him to Von Miller but Miller was a force against the pass and run. I never saw him getting ragdolled out there. I wouldn't mind him at some point in the first or second but at 4 overall? I'm not sold yet.
TeamRamrod
Yeah, not as big of a fan as some of the media. He has a quick first step but I'm not convinced he can get off blocks at the POA when up against better tackles.
JLocker10
Assuming Gregory is off the board and Williams is still on the board, I think it'd be a mistake to take Ray over Williams. Watching some of Williams this kid can really dominate at times as both a run stuffer and pass rusher. You can line him up a lot of different ways. He was dominant against CAL this year. Almost looked JJ Watt ish at times the way he was ragdolling blockers. I know Ray is the bigger need, but Williams is the better player.
TeamRamrod
1. Gregory 2. Williams 3. Trade back

Much scronier looking.
TeamRamrod
And you are not worried about that with Gregory? He is listed at 6'6 240. Much scronier looking. No because I've seen Gregory do it consistently.
Cyrus
Shane Ray is intriguing, but watch his cut-ups and you see a track athlete rushing straight upfield. Can he be more than that - is he just an explosive straight line guy? Or is that one trait good enough to beat guys in the NFL too? Don't know yet. I like guys like Gregory and even Fowler Jr. more simply because they can rush in different ways. Gregory has length and wingspan. He doesn't have the strength of Chandler Jones, but he's probably a little more flexible. Fowler Jr. is just a violent, physical dude. Somewhat like Khalil Mack without the production (but also played in a superior conference).
Bobo
I've seen Ray use more than just a straight line rush effectively. He used a quick juke move where he embarrassed an OT. Looked like he had very good foot quickness, which is nice to see along with straight line speed. Can't recall seeing a bull rush. He is small of course, but they say he has good weight room strength. Not sure if he can translate that stregth on the field. Gregory otoh looked more physical to me. I haven't really seen much of Fowler. We need a thread where vids are posted of these guys. Someone less lazy than me get on that!
