Brandin Cooks

Who's gonna roll the dice out the gate? I want to just for the hell of it, but I have a close game. Projections are 131 (me) to 129 (opp). I have other options.

Flex:

Ben Tate

Julian Edelman

Kenbrell Thomkins

Tavon Austin

Or should I roll the dice? I like to gamble! Who's comin' with me???

I wouldn't want any part of Thompkins or Austin in this scenario.  I honestly think Cooks is the third best play behind Tate and then Edelmen.  But who knows?  Cooks may go off, Anquan Boldin style.  I hope so, as I have him in two of my leagues.

In one league, I am deciding between Cooks, Justin Hunter, and Kenny Britt.  I am leaning towards Hunter.

Yeah, I snagged Hunter in a couple also. He's going pretty damn late. After 6th. In a 10 team I got him in like 10th round.

I'm usually quite bearish on rookie receivers because usually despite talent, they don't do much first year. Cooks has that gear and perfect schemes at NO.

Another player you might wanna snag off waivers is Cody Latimer, Broncos. He should be WR3 lining up in slot. He may even get pushed outside & ES pushed inside. We'll see. He's getting added like crazy. You don't wanna miss him.

Cooks has the talent, the question is how many touches he will get, especially in the red zone.

He may not need many touches in the red zone if everyone's focusing on Graham, Colston, and whoever else. Cooks is the guy no one is going to be looking at first and he probably won't be drawing the opposing defense's best defensive backs.

Ben Tate seems like a better play even though the Browns are playing the Steelers. He'll be the primary back and will get receptions and goal-line carries. I avoided him because of injuries, but if you have him you should ride him until he goes down.

That's the play. I want to see Cooks in action first too. I wanna see some targets when it counts. I'm still unsure about starting Rodgers or Flacco. I think I'm gonna roll with Flacco. I'm thinking we'll get a heavy dose of Lacy against SEA.

I'm rolling with Rodgers in my dynasty league, but that's partially because I don't want to drop a player for a one-week play. I just think that a lot can happen in season opener and I wouldn't be surprised if Rodgers had a quality game. (250+ yards, 2 TDS).

Yeah that's the conundrum. I'm sure you wouldn't be surprised if Rodgers went 220 1 td 2 int either. Would you be surprised if Flacco threw 3 td 250 yds? Nah. It's possible. I know Flacco will get me about 15pts. AHhhh decisions decisions

I wouldn't even think about it if it was Brees or Manning.

They sacked Rodgers 8x the last time they played. The O-line still sucks in Green Bay. They plan on a lot of no huddle, and I'm sure that'll help.

Speaking of Brandin Cooks... I'm in a puzzle over who to start out of these three: Cooks, Harvin, or Cruz. PPR league.

My other starting WR is Calvin Johnson, so one of those spots is a flex spot. Harvin is tempting as one of the starters because of his flexibility to either run the ball or catch the ball. Cruz was drafted ahead of Cooks, but I'm floundering on him because of Manning. And they're playing on the road (although indoors).

Megatron, Harvin, Cooks?

Megatron, Harvin, Cruz?

Or

Megatron, Cruz, Cooks?

Yeah, I found it odd when I saw how high Cruz projected numbers are for this game despite Eli's poor play. How the F do you give Cruz 15-16pts but say Manning isn't worth starting? In your shoes, I'd probably roll the dice with Cooks & Harvin. Definitely Harvin. On the plus side, Manning will probably be way behind as Detroit mounts NY like a Chihuaha on a stuffed animal. Detroit passing attack will be vigorous. Cruz is bound to catch something even if Manning throws to Det more than his own team. Mega, Harvin, Cruz. I'm gonna hold off on Crooks til I see the proof.

lol You just told me if you were me that you'd roll the dice with Harvin and Cooks...

...and then you came back and said Harvin and Cruz at the end.

Honestly being the first game, you gotta go with the proven guys. I have Crooks and I'm sitting him. He's a rookie. It may be a mistake, but chances are Cruz will do well regardless of whether Eli does well. Gotta go studs. I hope you started Percy!
