I really do hope we don't go into 2014 season with Locker and Fitzpatrick again. We really do need to wipe the slate clean and hit the reset button the QB position.I don't think Locker will stay healthy all year.We all know what happens if we are 4-1 and Locker gets hurt it will be the same as last season because Fitzpatrick ends up turning the ball over at the most crucial times losing games in the process. If i'm Webster i go ahead and cut both Fitzpatrick and Locker and go sign a veteran QB and draft one in the early rounds.

You evaluate next year, next year.  The only way the FO is handcuffed is if they use a 1st round pick this year.  Maybe a 2nd.  Why would be be handcuffed from taking a real highly rated guy if we drafted a QB after the 2nd round if he was a clear upgrade?   Because we are afraid we might waste a precious 4th round pick?  The 4th round pick can always be a cheap backup if it comes to that.  The priority has to be getting a high quality QB.  The Texans have the best defensive player in the NFL and where did they go this year?  Seattle doesn't win a SB without Wilson.  Take care of the QB first and work on the rest from there.   Does anyone think Hunter, Ayers or Brown, Warmack Morgan or Wright are going to win us a SB less a quality QB?  Those are all 1st and 2nd round picks.  I'd trade any of those guys in a heartbeat for a quality starting QB.

I'm not arguing that logic at all. I just say that if you take a QB this year its because you truly think he is a franchise player, not because he has higher ceiling than a LB we would get in a late round. If we take a QB in 2 and maybe even 3 that would absolutely be the replacement of our QBOF and would almost eliminate us from drafting a QB in rd 1 next year.

Cut Fitz. Trade #11 (and whatever else to balance value) for a later 1st and a 3rd.

Go LB/DL in the first, McCarron in the 2nd, OT in the 3rd (OL is deep this year).

Settle RB in FA. We're shouldn't be looking for the next Herschel Walker anyway.

McCarron will either beat Locker outright, or win QB1 by osmosis.

It's going to happen. Locker will be given every opportunity to show he's the guy next year because he's still Webster's boy. Personally I wish they would move on from Locker now due to his injury history and his inability to play smart football. I have no confidence that he'll stay healthy next year or develop they way he needs to.

I like the plan although we might sign a FA RB (Sproles) and still draft a RB in the 4th or later.

I wouldn't mind that either. Id hate to see us put RB as a higher draft priority than QB given the circumstances. We cannot let this QB class pass us by.
