Guest Posted October 16, 2013 Report Share Posted October 16, 2013 There's alot of conversatuion in Toronto about whether to keep Morgan Rielly (defense 5th overall in 2012) up with the big club when the 9 game limit is up (after 10 games it counts as an entry level year and they get to UFA one year sooner). Conventional wisdom is if you don't need to rush them you let them go down and dominate Junior one more year and be the captain of Team Canada in the worlds (USA in the case of Jones)...and all of that just helps you. The counter pojnt was kids develop so much faster these days, Rielly is physically mature...and they specifically called out Seth Jones as a being the pre ultimate example of a kid who is clearly physically ready at 18 which used to be unheard of at defense. I'm liking the chemistry of this years team. We added size speed and youth. I think we're going to be competitive.
