  1. I heard we were going to line him up as a wide receiver, catch passes out of the backfield, run a reverse, etc and haven't seen any of it happen. The more I watch this team the more I think we're 2-3 years away from competing. And that's if we draft well.
  2. Last year I thought he did ok at times but was very inconsistent. In retrospect, I was just grasping for something to feel positive about. The difference between this staff and last years is night and day.
  3. It's hard enough to hit on great draft picks but to hit on one and let them walk after their rookie contract is up is nonsense. You extend them a year or two before their contracts are up so they are affordable and cap friendly, just like we did with McCourty. Every position EXCEPT RB. RBs are not that hard to replace. You build a team through the draft. You fill out your roster holes with free agency. Verner should have been extended before this past year. He showed his playmaking ability early on, but who knew he would play that well at CB. Bottom line is you build through the draft. IIRC, the year we went to the Superbowl, 18 out of 22 starters were drafted by the team. That's also why the Patriots continue to compete without being big free agency spenders.
  4. Ok so let's hire good coordinators and I'll feel better than I do now.
  5. "Taking a Whizz" is going to suddenly take on a new meaning at TR. I'm with Sox. I think Bud is speaking from the other side..
  6. Code, Belichick had a GREAT resume as a successful DC before he bombed in Cleveland. I don't think God could have turned Cleveland around they were so horrible. Sometimes it's the front office that good coaches can't overcome. That said there's times when the players are in place and all the coaches mix well and the personalities and chemicals mix just right and teams will get on a good roll. I hope that's the case here but initially that is not my gut level reaction on the hire.
  7. I hope that it's not the knee jerk reaction of not wanting to hire another HC without much HC experience. That's like immediately dating a blonde after getting a divorce from your black haired wife. Hell Munch wasn't even an OC before. I was really hoping for some young coach with a new mindset, not a retread. I'll support him but he better bring in a badass DC. Whizz is riding Phillip Rivers coat tails right now. Locker is not Rivers.
  8. It's pretty simple. The Titans aren't a good enough team to overcome the mistakes. Some teams are, some teams aren't and this team is definitely not.
  9. The Titans will have to bring their "A" game on both sides of the ball to win at Seattle. Being able to run the ball effectively thus limiting the Seahawks opportunities on offense. Being able to contain Wilson will be a task but will be necessary to get off the field on third down. If Britt wants to get back into a favorable position with fans, here's his opportunity.
  10. I was just poking at you. I agree with a lot of your opinions. I was impressed that you gave CJ his due (but then you covered your bases with the snipe about his salary.) I'm not a longtime Oiler fan but sometimes I think you expect them to fail miserably and are surprised when they don't. And there's also those times that I know you just stirring the pot to keep things lively. I don't think the offense was terrible most of the game. I do think that Loggains is doing a good job with the game plan and will get better with time. I think his gameplan is designed around Locker and will grow as Locker grows. The drops, the penalties and the bad calls absolutely killed us yesterday. We never could get momentum going but fortunately neither did the Chargers except for the one TD drive. I think Munch deserves a nod about being aggressive in the offseason with all the changes in the staff and roster. I see a fire that the Titans haven't shown in several years. That comes from the top down. Munch has changed the culture and this team has a lot of room to improve. Most times sweeping change in the NFL doesn't translate into immediate success but I feel like this team could break that trend and be special. It's early and there's a lot of football to be played but LP Field was a different place yesterday after the game.
  11. Pretty good analysis Oman, but why do I get the feeling that acknowledging the Titans success' is similar to having to make a trip to the proctologist for you?
  12. Because pissing contests are more fun with a penis?
  13. BTW, welcome to the board Bigg and thanks for the analysis
  14. To me the definition of homerism is BLIND exuberance. There are several concrete reasons to be optimistic about this years team. There are also several unanswered questions surrounding the team as well. Reasons to be optimistic Totally revamped offensive line rebuilt with guys like Levitre and Warmack who can and will contribute immediately Added offensive weapons Delaney Walker, Justin Hunter, Shonn Greene and a revitalized Chris Johnson A healthy Jake Locker Veteran defensive additions of Pollard, Hill, and most importantly Greg Williams Better roster depth across the board Good young talent on defense... healthy and energized Derrick Morgan, Akeem Ayers, Zach Brown Reasons to be skeptical An unproven offensive coordinator and system in Dowell Loggains An unproven QB in Locker Not enough effort to improve pass rush and a pass rush "by committee" Remaining questions about the secondary and a yet-to-be-named starting CB Obviously there are more questions about the defense but there are still remaining questions on both sides of the ball and a head coach who has yet to be validated. I know that this time of year everyone is optimistic, but considering how I felt about the direction of the team after the end of last season and how I feel about the team this year, the difference is huge.
  15. Manning was good but he never beat Spurrier and the Gators his whole time at Tennessee and it always came down to them vs UT for the SEC east champs.
  16. I would say there's a good chance that if they tested Manning they would find evidence that it actually made his head larger, and therefore should fall under the PED guidelines for banned substances..
  17. Rookie mistake and the coaches let him hear all about it as he left the field. He probably won't be making that one again.
  18. Definitely agree. I was thinking Roos had missed a few more games but he's been a great draft pick. I love Stewarts nastiness. The mad chicken farmer.
  19. Stewart and Roos were both healthy when they got extended and both have been injured off and on since. Hutch was a bad idea from the gitgo considering the money we offered him. We let the better FA players leave town without a contract. Hopefully Levitre won't suffer the same fate as Hutch and you build your lines through the draft so Warmack was the right choice. Getting rid of your liabilities like Amano is a good place to start rebuilding.
  20. Fisher was the KING of coach speak. What the heck did people expect him to say? "We're really excited about the opportunity to teach Jared how to block and run routes. We're hoping to show the fans this wasn't a $35 million dollar mistake"
  21. Good work Jamal. The only thing I have to say about drops is that there could/should be a chart that tracks outstanding athletic catches that would not have been a completion if not for an amazing play by the receiver. In most circumstances those will equal out the drops on the QBs stat line.
  22. http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Inside-the-playbook-complex-blitz-schemes.html Got this off of the National Football Post website. The original article is from 2010. There's a diagram of Williams' Ruby Scorpion 77 Dime that explains it pretty well.
  23. Meaning all three safeties are on the field at the same time and two have the option to blitz? (as well as 2 of the LBs.)
