freakingeek Posted April 3, 2013 Report Share Posted April 3, 2013 I was just getting ready to post this. I think this will benefit us a great deal. I'm wondering if Forsberg is ready to play now or this was a move for the future. I'm thinking that it's probably the latter as opposed to a playoff related move. I liked Erat but if he asked for a trade, he was obviously unhappy. He wasn't producing much this year although he seemed to start to get back on track the last week or so. We need a dynamic forward. tinman Posted April 3, 2013 Report Share Posted April 3, 2013 Yeah but I think this season is done.. I just see other teams playing better hockey and might as well call a spade a spade. I don't think they are bad but just not on the upper level this year. Mason has been terrible when he has played IMO and Pekka has had some rough games too.. Some of that is on the guys out in front of them though so I am not sure what the real problem is. I don't understand the game enough to kbow, but erat has had some bad play.. If I remeber correctlly he was the one that peeled off to the bench leaving a 2 on 1 for a goal in a game a couple weeks back. He checked out a few times... I just don't see them making any noise in a series even if they make the playoffs.. I take that back it may have been Kostytsen (sp.lol) on that play. In any case he's an immensely talented prospect and this shows the Caps regime is desperate to make the playoffs. For the Preds it's a trade for the future and a sign that they don;t have high hopes for this year. They'll talk bravely about the present but it's obviously a move that hurts them in the short term but could pay off huge down the road. He probably has more potential in that regard than any player the Preds have drafted in franchise history. He's going to have to bake awhile though and hopefully he pans out. It kind of sucks in a way because Marty was always one of my favorite players and he will be missed. I'm glad I live in DC so I can continue to watch him play. The best of luck to Marty going forward. Savvy move by the Preds though because it's unlikely we make waves in the post season even if we do get in. Makes sense for both sides. We unload an older, highly paid player and get a guy, who if he develops, could be an offensive talent we haven't had in...maybe ever.
