This is interesting/encouraging re Da'Rick Rodgers

Rugby, as I stated, I have 4 people on that team that I know personally as well as the head coach. As you stated, he was a very good and humble team mate. He attnded class enough to keep the coaches off of hs back during football season. He was one and done at Tech from day one and the coaches knew it too.

Agreed, everyone knew it was 1 and done.

CTM.... I honestly think he had a reality check coming to TTU. I could be wrong but I think he has a better understanding of consequences of not keeping head clean. He had had it all taken away from him, unlike some others that don't realize till they get to NFL

I'm all about drafting Rodgers if he falls to our 2nd -- makes a ton more sense to me than drafting Austin #10.

Rodgers is a perfect replacement for Britt and would give us another redzone target.

I do think its important that he was allowed to participate at UT's proday. After getting kicked out, it's a decent sign he's worked on changing. They could have prevented him being there, and likely would have, if some sort of amends hadnt been made

I think if Dooley was still there, it may have been different.

So you draft an talented WR with maturity issues and authority issues to replace a WR with maturity issues?

the genius logic of this MB 8-)

some other people in a mock had us drafting four offensive players with our first four picks, nevermind the fact that our D this past season gave up the most points allowed in franchise history lol

Yep. Because they are the exact same person with the exact same problems. ;)

Britt is a dominant receiver when healthy -- his injury problems are what make it impossible to give him a longterm contract, and even that is still a possibility. Rogers is the total package at WR and fits what we need outside. His off the field history makes him risky, but he has been a dominant player on the field and the risk isn't related to longterm durability or his skillset -- his hands, route running, etc, are all fantastic.

Some people got pissed we drafted workout warrior CJ in the first after we drafted C Henry before him. Detroit drafted three top 10 WRs in a matter of years, and does anyone think it was a bad idea to grab Calvin Johnson? Cincy keeps grabbing problem-child LBs and has hit on some, missed on others. You evaluate the players individually and decide if they are worth it.

No one is suggesting taking him in the first round.  He has first round talent though, unquestionably.  On a pure talent/hws scale, he may be the best receiver in this draft.  The question is, whether you believe he's truly a changed person.  If not, stay away.  If you think it's even anything better than 50/50, he's more than worth a 3rd round pick.  I'd be comfortable drafting him in the second, but barely, and I have no qualms with anyone thinking that a 2nd is too early to take that risk.  It's a valid opinion.  Anything after that though - the value becomes ridiculous for what he could contribute.
