Starkiller
As badly as George Lucas screwed up the prequels, Disney can't do any worse.
oldschool
The Thrawn Trilogy has potential as long as they let a real screen writer write it.
Pragidealist
Would love to see sequels done well, but its hard to expect that.
NashvilleNinja
As badly as George Lucas screwed up the prequels, Disney can't do any worse. Oh, I'm sure they could do worse... but I don't think they will. Then again, what are they basing these new films on? I know there are books out there, but I've never read them. Will they have any of the original cast in the films (Ford, Hammill, Fisher)? Bunch of questions...
reo
He's been wanting to make 7, 8 and 9 for years. It's rumored that that's the reason he re-released them in 3D to try and fund it. The reason he released them back in the late 90s was to fund Episode 1, 2 and 3 and it worked. Apparently he couldn't get enough for the last 3 though so he decided to sell and let someone else make them. Hopefully they do a good job. I think most of the original cast said they'd come back. I think Harrison Ford was the main holdout but w/ him reprising Indiana Jones that's a possibility too.
Starkiller
The Thrawn Trilogy has potential as long as they let a real screen writer write it. I've been saying this for years. I'd love to see that trilogy on film.
Starkiller
I don't think Lucas would have ever needed funding for another Star Wars trilogy. If he said he wanted money for that, people would have been thrilled to make a virtually guaranteed loan.
reo
Doubt anyone wants to take out that kind of loan.
NashvilleNinja
Doubt anyone wants to take out that kind of loan. I get what you're saying, because of the economy, but people are still going to see movies in general. And if there's a movie franchise out there that is a virtual lock that people will flock to it's this one.
reo
Is "virtual lock" a good enough bet to chance going from massively rich to massively in debt when you could just sell it and get it made?
Starkiller
I'm glad he sold it, frankly. After the prequels, there would be a lot of gnashing of teeth if he said he was making more himself. As for the money, he would have had no problem funding it. reo
Wish I could find the thread I made on it back then but maybe it was on the temp forum.

You say that but the reason he re-released them originally was to fund the first 3 so I'd say it wouldn't be as easy as most seem to assume.
CMJ
I'm over Star Wars. Lucas killed it for me.
