If we wait for him to be released then we've got to compete w/ other teams. I'd give up a 7th and just get him out right and then restructure his deal before I waited for him to be released.. And by doing that, they couldn't sign Fin until after they found out how much they'd be paying Mario and Fin wasn't going to wait. That being said, I doubt they pay Samuel $10M either. it's not about Samuel agreeing to a reduced contract. You could however get him to agree to an extension that has a lower cap hit in the first couple years and then you cut him before he hits the bigger parts. He'd probably do it to get out of Philly, up front money and pretty much guaranteed FA in a couple years. I disagree and don't think Mario and Finnegan are related at all. I think they just didn't want to pay market price ($10M) for a corner. That's why they low balled him at $7M before the season. They made the decision that was basically as high as they wanted to go at that point and I don't think there was any consideration of trying to sign him after that. Everyone knew what the market for these second tier corners was after Joseph signed last year and Finnegan and Carr got exactly that. Everyone also knew Mario was going to get a contract higher than what Peppers got, especially since that was two years ago. THe Titans didn't need to wait to have a very good idea what both of these guys were going to cost. By the way, your point about CJs contract has always been that NFL front offices are smart and they can easily sign multiple high priced players if they want, right? I just don't think the Titans want a $10M corner, whether the name is Finnegan, Carr or Samuel. Why would Samuel agree to a back loaded contract that makes it easy to cut him in a couple of years?
